So, it sure has been a while since this group saw anything new, huh? Well, just a quick low-down on the title: Kaz, admin of TAOW, has finally joined our steam group. Furthermore, with her working once again on the main site, it would be good to have members back on the forums (and this group).

It IS a long shot here, what with most of us being too busy in our lives, but hopefully we can all get together a bit more often once more. :)

Hey guys, a bit of a long message incoming. I appreciate it if you took time to read the following in its entireity:

Yesterday, Laby and I had an interesting conversation about TAOW and compeitive TF2. It came up after I mentioned I joined TR (Totally Retro, if you care), and Laby told me I still have a comittment of playing Medic for TAOW.

Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly play Medic if need be, but there's a few things I really want to get some information about.

One: Is anyone interested in playing Team Fortress 2 competitively? If so, why?
Two: Is anyone who's interested in playing Team Fortress 2 competitively know of the Highlander format, and have any experience?
Three: What about our mains? How will we decided who plays what class? Exactly how many Pyros do we have right now? Four?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to play competitive TF2 with you guys, but thing is, this kind of thing requires experience and practice, and more importantly: simalar region. Those in EU should probably stay in EU, as far as TF2 goes. Not to be rude, but 100+ ping with any class except Engineer is a major pain in the ass. I've gone on a few laggy Lobby servers, and playing Pyro was near impossible.

Look, my point is this: Is competitive TF2 something we're all interested in? My personal answer? Yes. Ok, yes, 400+ hours of TF2 isn't anything to sneeze at, but with an incentive to play and get better, I can certainly evolve as a better Pyro than if I just pubbed all day.

But just because I say yes, doesn't mean other people will agree with me.

In more positive news: Guy has his own server running. Check it out. And also: is anyone on Steam missing from the group? Send me a note, and I'll fix that when I can.

It's been a while since this group has seen any kind of life, and I'd like to fix that. Remember the days of trying to get everyone to come onto TF2? And having a good time? Nowadays, there's only...four or five of us that actually come around and play. I think I'm the only one who tries to get on dayliy. Ignoring the fact that I'd like to play Highlander TF2 by the time I get to college... xD

But anyway, I know a lot of you don't have vacation anymore, but most of you aren't in high school, and I'm sure we can think of something to get a lot of people on. I know a server that allows for only ten player slots. Maybe we can fill that up? I'll post the IP later.

So my purposal is: How about we play some TF2 together? Like good old times. Let's get this a little popular, and then decide on a day, hopefully some time this week. :D

Several info came to me the last few days and I was busy with attending to them...Phanty said that Guy is thinking of making a server. That would mean that the project concieved and helped by all of us to grow, is one step closer to realization. Luckily, the first set of 9 players is also full (almost, some details must be taken care of, first) so that means that our worries are lessened.

To help Guy a bit, I dug for some info that will help the server work the way our group will need it to be. I mentioned several times that the project will be a "Highlander" style of shorts (there can be only one!!! XD). It seems that Valve got ahead of me and took care of this: mp_highlander 1*. This one, will allow us to have the desirable effects that the project calls for.

Added to that, I found one more thing: mp_tournament*. This one does not mean we will be having lots of tournaments. It will just add a helpfull HUD for us to use, that I think it will make things easier for us (we can still have it work as an actual tournament. Y'know, to have some...healthy competition, as the Administrator would put it XD).
(*Both must be put on the command console to work)

Finally, Phanty made a very wise thinking: let's have the said server be password protected, so that only us members of the group can access it (and for close and trusty friends of yours, if you see fit to let them know, guys).

If Guy needs any help, let's make sure we can provide it to him. I want to thank you guys for doing the best you can to see this project come a little more closer to realization.
And to keep it to the spirit of the days, have a very Merry Christmas :D. (alright, I know I am 2 days off. XD)

I haven't seen much activity from the group, and I suppose that's more my fault than anyone else's. I think we had a nice Highlander thing going, and then...people just kinda poofed. It's back to as it was: only four people in the group actually playing TF2 on a somewhat regular basis. It's not a bad thing that people don't play, not at all.

Guy has mentioned to me several times about a server he's making. Thing is, I would love to just have some fun with friends. It's been a while since we all went 2v2 or anything, or 3v3, and I would love to do that kind of thing again. I've noticed people adding friends from TF2 (much like I have done from SK - that's how I met some names you guys don't recognize), and well, my main point is...

Recuirt some people. Ask your friends if they're interested in Golden Sun, and send them a link to the forum. Both the steam group and the forum have been a ghost town; we can fix this!

So do some recuirting, find some friends. Who knows - we might be able to fill up our little Highlander list at some point as well. I know Laby invested a bit of time into organaizing that - let's not put his efforts to waste. Go talk to people, they won't bite!
