Germans and Austrians are NOT the same. I have no clue where you live but here in Germany, Austrians are considered VERY different. Austrians are very silly, Germans are very serious. The Austrians are weak compared to our German might. Your grandfather was drafted because we Germans took Austria so duh, he would be drafted into the German Army. And yes Hitler was born in Austria, but in Mein Kampf he says his hometown is technically Bavarian ( :D ).
