The 'new' Multimod now has most of the of ZF favourites, and a few surf maps (Toast and Horizon). It also has a lot of the old proophoont maps.

Sir.Zero, I am happy to say Multimod has returned!

I am currently paying for and maintaining a server group with the same old rotation (prophunt, balloon race, zombie fortress + assorted others), with some new additions that have been designed. These include;

Fire Run - mode where players have to escape an end of the world apocoplypse filled with falling flames. You have to rely on pyros and medics to keep the team alive. Final Boss is a fire demon.

Bonk Bat! - A scout/heavy mode mimicing many different sports.

Ultimate Fight - Players are transformed into 'classes' (pyro is pyromancer, medic is white mage, etc.) that have custom spell animations.One character is chosen as the dark wizard and all other players must create their own base and search the map for power ups.

I did some probing into the possible reasons why sI has maintained a server presence despite lack of payment by administrators. I believe the inherent advertising scheme used to 'float' many servers economically may have strong implications when involved in upkeep. I have posted my findings on youtube for those interested in the profitability of these arrangements.

A further update on the status of the server for all those that are interested. Frank posted on youtube a video that illustrates the connection between server capacity/advertiser revenue/and overall technical issues related to up-time. Anyway, it's an interesting take on why the server can't run anymore, even if I don't necessarily agree with the outcome:
