The last Armory Pass update was January 21, 2026 — and all we got was the limited AK-47 Aphrodite. That was over four months ago. For context, Valve usually refreshes the Armory at least once every few months. This silence is already unusual by their own standards.

On April 21, a “Last Chance to Buy” warning appeared on several items: the Train 2025 and Sport & Field collections, plus the Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft sticker capsules. Last time Valve ran that warning — back in September 2025 — items disappeared exactly three weeks later. The community did the math and circled mid-May on their calendars. Mid-May came and went. It’s now June 3, and there’s still nothing.

The submission window for new collections (Arabesque Art and Arabian Mythology, Spy/Tech for weapons, Auto Racing and Fruits and Vegetables for stickers) closed on March 13. The entries are in. Winners have presumably been picked. So what’s the holdup?

One thing worth keeping in mind before diving into theories: dataminers already found new collection tags and a Workshop_Event string in the game files back in spring. The backend work is clearly underway. The question was never if — it’s when, and why it’s taking this long.


This year Valve didn’t just update Major cosmetics — they completely overhauled the system, scrapping capsules entirely and replacing them with the Major Shop. And they shipped it well ahead of schedule, giving the community over a week to figure out Pick’Em, explore the new setup, and spend money before the tournament even started. Not a single leak surfaced beforehand. That kind of coordinated, leak-free launch doesn’t happen without serious internal focus.

IEM Cologne Major 2026 runs June 2–21, so it’s happening right now. The logic here is simple: Valve probably didn’t want to compete with themselves. Dropping a big Armory rotation while the community is deep into Pick’Em predictions, player sticker hunting, and Major Shop spending would split attention and dilute both moments. Staggering the releases makes more sense — which would put new Armory content right after Cologne wraps.

Fair counterpoint: Armory updates and Majors have coexisted before without any issues. But the sheer scale of what Valve built for Cologne this time around genuinely looks like it ate up months of dev bandwidth.


Forget the conspiracy theories about Valve controlling supply on a whim. The more straightforward version: not enough items sold, and Valve is waiting on some internal threshold before closing out the collections.

It’s debatable, but not completely baseless. Train 2025 did move slowly throughout its run, and the “Last Chance” bump may not have been enough to change that. Sport & Field is the opposite — it’s been in the game for eighteen months and has stayed consistently popular. Hard to imagine Valve had unrealistic expectations there.

On top of that, Valve has historically rotated collections out pretty swiftly, without any apparent concern over leftover stock. And if the theory is that sales are lagging — why no discounts? A star rebate or a limited-time deal would be the obvious move to clear inventory.

Here’s the thing though: the Armory is a massive revenue machine. Unofficial estimates put it in the hundreds of millions. Against numbers like that, delaying an entire update over a few extra weeks of collection sales seems like a stretch — especially when new content always drives a wave of pass purchases on its own.

The practical takeaway: if you believe this theory, go buy what you want now. “Last Chance” has a way of becoming “no longer available” very suddenly. We covered what’s worth picking up from the outgoing collections last month.


In Workshop competitions, Valve buys out full rights to every accepted submission in a one-time payment. Under the current terms, that’s $35,000 per weapon skin and $6,000 per sticker or charm — a rate many creators consider low given the workload. But once Valve owns it, they own it completely, and they’re free to change whatever they want.

They use that freedom liberally. Final skins often look noticeably different from the original submission — partly due to engine constraints, partly because Valve loves embedding Easter eggs and hidden details that weren’t in the original work. With two full weapon collections and two sticker sets dropping at once, the finishing process could realistically have run longer than planned.

The collections are coming. Arabesque Art and Arabian Mythology, Spy/Tech, Auto Racing, Fruits and Vegetables — they’ll land when they’re ready. We broke down the likely winners from each category in a separate piece.


This is where it gets interesting.

A new case. Less likely after Valve walked away from capsules, but not impossible. One final case as a send-off to that era? As a statement move, it would actually make a lot of sense.

A new limited item. If this is in the works, add another month to the wait. It would also suggest the update is considerably larger than four collections. The running assumption in the community is that the next limited could be a knife or gloves — and the escalation pattern supports it. Limited items have been creeping up in rarity: after a red-tier item at 125 stars, a gold-tier item at 500 isn’t hard to imagine.

Tied to this is another theory making the rounds: that all the limited items eventually get rolled into a single craftable collection. The day that happens, supply evaporates. What’s technically “limited” right now becomes genuinely scarce almost overnight.

A Cache collection. The map came back on April 28. A lot of people are expecting a Cologne announcement about Cache returning to the active competitive pool — and a Cache 2026 collection in the Armory would be a natural follow-up. The timing even lines up: both the Major and the AK-47 Aphrodite window close at the end of June. The only real question is whether map-tied collections even fit Valve’s current direction. They’ve already dropped sticker capsules and souvenir containers — so the old formula of “new map = new collection” may not apply anymore. Still, a Cache 2026 collection would be a very welcome surprise.


The backend is ready. The submissions have been purchased. The most likely scenario is that Valve held the release deliberately to avoid stepping on the Major — and that new Armory collections drop shortly after Cologne ends. There’s also a real chance something bigger than four collections is coming along with them.

Пока все ждали обновления The Armory Pass, разработчики выкатили атрибутику IEM Cologne и заодно полностью сломали систему, которая работала годами. Без утечек, без предупреждений. Фирменный стиль нашей любимой компании.

Причём здесь Кёльн? IEM Cologne – «Собор Counter-Strike»: четыре Мейджора и LANXESS Arena на 20 000 человек делают этот турнир одним из самых ожидаемых за последние годы. Но Германия – это ещё и страна, где в последнее время усиливается регуляторное давление на игровую монетизацию. Немецкие власти уже обязали VALVE внедрить X-Ray-сканер при открытии кейсов: сначала видишь содержимое, потом решаешь, покупать ключ или нет.

Так связано ли исчезновение капсул с местом проведения Мейджора? Скорее всего, всё вместе: и регуляторное давление различных властей, и локация, и собственный курс VALVE на уход от ассоциаций с азартными играми. Токены покупаются в Steam Wallet по курсу 100 токенов = $0,99. Важно: купить их «про запас» нельзя – токены приобретаются только в момент оформления заказа на стикеры, если баланса не хватает.


Ключевая механика, которая делает систему по-настоящему рыночной и очень схожа с «дилером» в Терминалах. Цены на стикеры не фиксированы – они меняются в реальном времени в зависимости от спроса:

• Стикеры топ-игроков (donk, ZywOo, m0NESY) и популярных команд (Vitality, Falcons, NAVI) дорожают с ростом спроса.
  
• Стикеры аутсайдеров (менее востребованные) – дешевеют.
  
• После больших объёмов продаж цены пересчитываются относительно друг друга.

Защита покупателя: если цена стикера упала более чем на 25 токенов в течение 24 часов после твоей покупки – разница автоматически возвращается токенами в течение недели. Небольшой, но приятный жест в сторону ранних покупателей.


Официально – разработчики отказались от капсул и перешли на прямую покупку наклеек, чтобы предметы были доступны игрокам из всех регионов.

Германия и ряд других европейских стран начали ужесточать законодательство в отношении лутбоксов как формы азартных игр. Вполне можно представить ситуацию, когда работяги не смогут позволить себе покупать дорогие стикеры из-за высокой цены, и тираж стикеров из-за этого будет значительно меньше, чем на прошлых ивентах. Не исключаем, что небольшой тираж коснётся не только дорогих стикеров. Ведь если раньше на $10 игрок открывал 10 капсул и вытаскивал 10 наклеек, то сейчас он просто потратит эти деньги на 2–3 стикера, которые ему по душе. Автографы игроков и команд с небольшой фанбазой также могут стать редкостью, ведь их будут закупать только «инвесторы» в надежде на этот тейк.

ГЛАВНЫЙ ВОПРОС: А БУДУТ ЛИ СКИДКИ?!


Это, пожалуй, самое смелое нововведение обновления.


Сувенирные контейнеры приобретались за реальные деньги (с помощью покупки монет), дроп был привязан к конкретному матчу и карте (коллекции скинов), стикеры – к командам и карте, а не к игрокам. Предсказать или контролировать выпадение конкретного предмета из сувенирного набора было невозможно. Любой сувенирный предмет – исключительно дело удачи.


Теперь это полностью контролируемый крафт:

• Берёшь любое оружие из своего инвентаря – обычное или уже имеющее Souvenir-качество.
  
• Выбираешь завершённый матч и конкретного игрока из него.
  
• Получаешь Souvenir-версию оружия с золотыми стикерами: логотипы команд, автограф игрока, стикер карты.

Перед крафтом – превью результата. Существующие стикеры на оружии снимаются.

Дополнительно: Souvenir-предметы теперь можно использовать в Trade Up Contracts вместе с обычными. Это открывает принципиально новые пути для апгрейда инвентаря. Но из этого контракта не может выпасть сувенирный предмет – только обычный.

• Теперь любой предмет можно сделать сувенирным с любыми командами и любым автографом игрока. Это кардинально меняет рынок редких сувениров.
  
• Возвращение автографов игроков на сувенирных предметах – огромный W для фанатов.
  
• Кастомизация под себя – то, что было абсолютно недоступно в старой системе.

• Размывание редкости. Раньше AWP Dragon Lore Souvenir был редким потому, что его нельзя было просто «накрафтить». Теперь любой, у кого есть Dragon Lore и достаточно токенов, может получить Souvenir-версию. Потенциальное наводнение рынка.
  
• Владельцы старых дропов с «натуральной» историей могут потерять в цене. Вряд ли «оригинальные» экземпляры сильно потеряют из-за появления «скрафченных», но эксклюзивность немного снизится.

Мысли SIH по горячим следам: нововведение довольно интересное. Если мы правильно поняли механику, то прежние сувенирные предметы больше не появятся в игре, а значит, поднимутся в цене. Тем более – теперь их можно использовать в крафте, и они не лежат мёртвым грузом в инвентаре! Это запустит целую волну исчезновения сувенирных скинов и спровоцирует рост цен на них. По ощущениям, будет схожая ситуация, которая сложилась после появления крафта ножей: дешёвым предметам вдохнули вторую жизнь, и в них снова появился смысл.


Эта часть системы сохраняет привычную структуру, но с адаптацией под новую экономику токенов:

• Стандартный Viewer Pass – ~$9,99 (аналог предыдущих Мейджоров).
  
• Pass + доп. токены (900 токенов) – ~$17,99.

Pass даёт доступ к Pick’Em, Challenge Coin (Bronze → Silver → Gold → Diamond) и 300 токенов за каждый успешный апгрейд монеты (в зависимости от успеха предиктов).

Участие в Pick’Em Challenge остаётся стимулом смотреть матчи и делать точные предсказания. Всё, что раньше давало лишние сувенирные наборы, теперь конвертируется в «валюту», которую можно потратить на любой товар в Major Shop.


VALVE сохранили принцип: 50% от всех продаж (Pass + Major Shop) идут на роялти. Но схема распределения переработана:

• 5% – организатору (на IEM Cologne 2026 – это ESL).
  
• Остаток – командам и игрокам, в две фазы:

До Гранд-финала: распределение пропорционально позиции в глобальном VRS-рейтинге на момент начала турнира.

После Гранд-финала: пересчёт по финальному плейсменту на турнире.

Мысли SIH: двухфазное распределение создаёт двойной стимул для команд. До Мейджора важен рейтинг VRS. После – реальное выступление, где деньги зарабатываются уже не только на призовых. Это лучше старой схемы, где распределение было привязано к капсульным группам, а не к результатам. Его вполне можно считать более справедливым, ведь теперь всё зависит от команд, а не от «рандома», где раньше было важно просто попасть в одну капсулу с китайскими коллективами или другими командами с большой фанбазой.


Отдельного внимания заслуживает визуальная концепция. Дизайнеры нашли идеальную отсылку к месту проведения: стикеры Cologne 2026 вдохновлены витражами Кёльнского собора. Яркие, «стеклянные», с выраженными световыми эффектами.

Foil-версии вернулись – в отличие от embroidered-стиля прошлого Мейджора (возможно, мы больше их не увидим). Сообщество в целом принимает это тепло.

Фоны наклеек выглядят как полноценные витражные миниатюры. Вернули классический крупный, круглый дизайн для стикеров ESL. Стикеры шикарно стираются, не оставляя никакого фона, если это необходимо.

Tokens run the show now, and you craft your own souvenir. Here’s a full breakdown of what changed, why it happened, and what it means for traders, collectors, and everyday players.


While everyone was busy waiting for a new Armory Pass update, VALVE quietly dropped the IEM Cologne merch — and in doing so, dismantled a system that had been running on autopilot for years. No leaks. No warning. Classic VALVE.

So why Cologne? IEM Cologne is Counter-Strike’s cathedral: four Majors hosted, a 20,000-seat LANXESS Arena, and a reputation that makes it one of the most anticipated tournaments on the calendar. But Germany also happens to be one of the countries pushing hardest on loot box regulation. German authorities already forced VALVE to implement the X-Ray scanner for case openings — you see what’s inside before deciding whether to buy the key.

Is the death of capsules tied to the Major’s location? The less official but equally obvious reason: Germany and several other European countries have been tightening legislation around loot boxes as a form of gambling. SIH Hot Take: This is an unambiguous F for capsule investment, but legacy capsules could genuinely moon off the back of this. As for sticker investments — we wouldn’t write them off just yet. Watch how the community responds over the course of this Major. It’s easy to imagine a scenario where regular players simply can’t afford the expensive stickers, which means total print runs could end up significantly smaller than at previous events. And that might not just apply to the pricey ones. Back in the day, $10 got you 10 capsule openings and 10 stickers. Now that same $10 buys you 2–3 stickers you actually want. Player and team autographs with smaller fanbases could become genuinely rare — only “investors” will be picking those up on principle.

THE REAL QUESTION: WILL THERE BE SALES?!


This is arguably the boldest feature in the entire update.


Souvenir containers were purchased with real money (via souvenir coins), drops were tied to specific matches and maps, and stickers featured team logos and map branding — not individual player autographs. You had zero control over what dropped. Every souvenir was pure luck.


It’s now a fully player-controlled crafting system:

• Pick any weapon from your inventory — regular or already Souvenir-quality.
  
• Select a completed match and a specific player from that match.
  
• Receive a Souvenir version of the weapon, complete with gold stickers: team logos, the player’s autograph, and the map sticker.

You get a full preview before committing. Any existing stickers on the weapon are removed in the process.

One more thing: Souvenir items can now be used in Trade Up Contracts alongside regular items. That opens up entirely new upgrade paths. Note, though, that the output of such a contract will always be a regular item — you can’t craft your way to a souvenir through a trade-up.

• Any weapon can become a souvenir with any team combination and any player autograph. The rare souvenir market will never be the same.
  
• Player autographs are back on souvenir items — a massive W for fans.
  
• Full customization for yourself, something that was completely out of reach in the old system.

• Diluted rarity. An AWP Dragon Lore Souvenir used to be rare precisely because you couldn’t just “craft” one. Now anyone with a Dragon Lore and enough tokens can get a Souvenir version. The market could get flooded.
  
• Owners of “natural drop” souvenirs with genuine history may take a hit. The truly iconic pieces probably won’t tank, but the exclusivity factor has undeniably taken a step back.

SIH Hot Take: This one’s genuinely interesting. If we’re reading the mechanic correctly, legacy souvenir items will no longer enter the game through drops — which means they should go up in value. And now they’re actually useful: plug them into a trade-up contract instead of letting them sit dead in your inventory. That should trigger a wave of souvenir skins disappearing from the market and prices climbing as a result. It gives us the same feeling as when knife crafting launched — a mechanic that breathed new life into cheap items and gave them purpose again.


This part of the system keeps its familiar structure, adapted for the new token economy:

• Standard Viewer Pass — ~$9.99 (in line with previous Majors).
  
• Pass + bonus tokens (900 tokens) — ~$17.99.

The Pass unlocks Pick’Em, the Challenge Coin upgrade track (Bronze → Silver → Gold → Diamond), and earns 300 tokens for each successful coin upgrade based on prediction accuracy.

You could argue it’s genuinely fairer: everything now depends on how teams perform, not whether they happened to share a capsule with a team that has a large fanbase in China.


The visual direction deserves its own moment. The designers landed on a concept that’s a perfect nod to the host city: Cologne 2026 stickers are inspired by the stained glass windows of Cologne Cathedral. Vivid, “glassy,” with strong light-refracting effects.

Foil finishes are back — a notable return after the embroidered style of the last Major (which may have been a one-time thing). The community has responded warmly across the board.

Sticker backgrounds look like full stained glass miniatures. The classic large, circular design is back for ESL branding. The stickers also scrape beautifully clean, leaving no residue if you need a blank look.

Near-unanimous praise for the new design direction — and for a CS community, that kind of consensus almost never happens.


The response broke exactly how you’d expect.

The positives:

• Sticker designs are getting almost universal love.
  
• The ability to craft souvenirs onto high-value skins is a mechanic nobody even thought to ask for.
  
• Souvenir items finally have practical utility through trade-up contracts — and that hasn’t hurt the value of the big-ticket souvenir “jackpots” that already exist.

The criticism:

• “They killed the gambling mechanic” — part of the community genuinely valued the thrill of cracking open capsules. Hunting for that one expensive sticker that pays for everything else. That rush is gone.
  
• VALVE keeps tightening its grip on the market, and now they’ve reached stickers. Plenty of traders are making their usual dramatic “I’m done” speeches.

This isn’t a cosmetic tweak. VALVE is solving several real problems at once:

• Legal compliance. Dropping capsules as loot boxes eliminates regulatory risk in Germany and other countries cracking down on gambling mechanics. For a Major hosted in Germany, this is non-negotiable.
  
• Audience expansion. Some players never wanted to roll the dice — they’d just go buy their sticker off the Steam Market instead. Now they’ll buy it in-game. That’s direct revenue for VALVE and royalties for teams.
  
• Better UX. Direct purchases, craft previews, price drop protection — all of it lowers the barrier to entry and removes the frustration of bad luck.
  
• A new economy. Dynamic pricing turns the Major Shop into a mini exchange. It’s more complex, but it reflects real demand more honestly — and potentially rewards people who know how to read the market.

It feels like VALVE is playing Robin Hood again — squeezing investors a little and opening things up for regular players. Any sticker can now be bought in unlimited quantities, so cornering the market and running pump schemes becomes a lot harder. But that’s only the surface read. There’s a real scenario where investors simply don’t funnel money into VALVE during the event and instead wait it out — then sweep everything available off the Steam Market once it’s all over.

There are too many ways this plays out to call it now. If you think the ending is obvious, don’t reach for the remote — this thriller is just getting started. Last week, in the second half of April 2026, a “Last Chance to Purchase” notice appeared on several collections in The Armory Pass. This means they will soon be removed from the pass and replaced with something new. Everyone expected it to happen on April 28th alongside the Cache release, but it looks like we’ll have to wait another week. Most likely, the old collections will be replaced by new ones from last year’s VALVE workshop competition, which concluded in March 2026.

While we wait for the winners to be announced, we still have a chance to spend our stars on collections that are guaranteed to become limited in the next major update.

If you want to invest more selectively, this article compiles the most sought-after items that should see stronger demand in the future.


The collection has been in the game for just over a year and even outlived the Train map itself, which was removed in January 2026. However, its time in The Armory Pass is now ending precisely because Train is no longer in the competitive map pool. Overpass 2024, for instance, has been in the game far longer and hasn’t been removed — making it officially the longest-running weapon collection in the pass.

It’s no secret that VALVE tends to cut unpopular (i.e., less profitable) products, which suggests Train 2025 wasn’t opened all that often. That’s another argument in favor of investing in these items, even if none of them ever became a standout fan favorite.

If you can pick up a couple of MW-or-better copies, that’s an excellent investment. You can also use the smart SIH filters on the Steam marketplace to look for FT copies with a float close to 0.15 — those can potentially be sold for at least 50% above market price.

Far fewer were opened, and rarity drives price — the AWP | LongDog could easily surprise people.
