Mic cutting in and out in recording
All of my steam recordings have my microphone cutting in and out at random. This seems to be a problem with steam not picking up my voice, however this isnt a problem for me on Discord. Also, I have the sound threshold turned off and the gain on my mic in steam turned up.

Same issue. Even pumping my steam input gain all the way up doesn't fix the issue.
Same issue here with Audeze Maxwell Mic
I still haven't found a solution. Has anyone seen a steam statement or bandaid fix or anything on this?
Same issue here.
Same here
Same issue here, no matter what settings i change the audio recordings are very low and cut off. When i test mic it's perfectly fine
Also having this issue now that the feature has fully released. Hoping for a fix soon, because otherwise the feature is fantastic.
Same here. Recording from the game AND the external app (vPilot) works fine...
I assumed steam is using the voice settings from the voice tab in the steam setting right under game recording. Turning on the advanced setting, disabling echo cancellation and also disabling the voice transmission threshold solved my mic cutting in and out completely. However now i have to deal with white noise because there is no noise gate.

I really do believe we should be able to control our own noise gate instead of relying on their presets like any other competent voice recording software.

Interesting. I used those same settings and my voice still clips badly in recordings. My mic level is set to 95 in Windows and for Steam voice settings I left it default. You would think turning off the voice transmission threshold alone would fix it.

I managed to "fix" it for myself but I don't think this will apply to everyone. I've done some testing and I'm pretty sure the voice settings don't affect game recording whatsoever. I have an at2020 and a scarlett2i2 3rd gen. Simply increasing the gain knob on the scarlett let me start hearing my mic with a few interruptions in the recording but disabling gain control in "Voice" settings, versus disabling it in "Game recording" settings, I was hearing a clearer, louder difference from the latter(disabled in game recording). I also tried enabling and disabling every setting in "Voice" once I got my mic working and I couldn't hear any difference.
