Background recording does not start automatically, have to toggle off and on to activate
Every time I start a game, the background recording fails to start automatically.

I have to go to Steam Settings > Game Recording, toggle Recording to Off, and then switch it back to Record in Background. and then the grey dot next to the timer turns red, and the recording begins.

Has anyone run into the same problem?

for me does background record automatically for google earth vr but not contractors vr. I believe the game needs to have support for Steam Timeline

I found this thread looking to solve the same problem. I have a hunch they realized rewriting gigs worth of data constantly was damaging to hardware and decided to implement this to avoid lawsuits for destruction of property or whatever. To be be fair I was saving 4 hours at a time which means 70GB worth of data that was rewritten for thousands of hours when realistically I only need an hours worth of content and should just turn it on when I know I'll be doing clip worthy content. Or is that just cope?
