I don't think it'll be a problem - if it does become an issue, name-change isn't a huge deal.
There was a band named Firefall when Firefall the Game was in dev, the reason the original website was Firefallthegame and not Firefall was because of the band, so again - I don't see it being an issue

Bigger issues being funding, if the next round of funding (whenever that is) is successful we might have ourselves a game

All Firefall support staff, including FadedPez have been let go from Red 5. Red 5 is working on two non-Firefall related VR projects and one "Firefall related" project: a mobile game set in the Firefall universe with no connection to the PC game.

Crafting will not make a return, and if it does it will be the 1.3 crafting system - but that is unlikely according to Pez.

The game has little life left in it, in other news: the official Ember forums should be up sometime this week!

For people who still check this page, the link Reece just provided is a petition by Mark Kern, the founder of Red 5 and Firefall. The petition is a method for Mark Kern to gauge the true interest in a Firefall 2.0.

Kern has pointed out in this petition that he will not be able to obtain the IP from Red 5, but he is not giving up. He is willing to create a completely new game using the same mechanics we saw from earlier iterations of Firefall, and more importantly: the mechanics we love about the game. (Tits and ass, too)

Firefall did a lot of things right, it's always been fun to fly around and kill ♥♥♥♥. The abilities and weapons are solid in Firefall, so it makes sense to copy them. The issue has always been there is nothing to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do.

Maybe one day Red 5 will realize this.

The mount is nice, but not totally useful. Premium helps a lot in leveling up and the free class unlock is a great way to start the game. Gnaix, Zyra, Kerby, Siris and I still play - so you've got people to play with when you login.

I dont like Ubisoft PC games. In other note, I had been watching Overwatch gameplay and I can notice how they kinda mixed FF classes and abilities to make some heroes. The Mammoth old Shield Wall, Electron Shield, D.Fly Healing Pillar, Rhino Gravity Field Grenade - HLMG 2nd Fire - Charge , TC Hellfire, Bastion(well kinda). Don't know all heroes but those are some similarities I find.

I need to upgrade my video card, but I don't see myself replacing that anytime soon. The next upgrade for me is a new case. I like massive harddrive arrays - but I can only fit 4 HDDs and an SSD in my case atm, anymore and it's a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I have a case in mind, it's just a bit pricey - so I haven't made it a huge priority.

Oh, I was on my phone earlier - didn't see your question before I asked you. I don't mind either, I've been playing MMOs for a long time and have spent well over $1000 in subscriptions.

Flatout onetime purchase is much easier and hurts less if you don't play all the time. Neither are particularly good for some poeple in this group, and many current Firefall players in general.

I'd be willing to pay for myself and Zyra, but that's about all I could afford.

Paying for Melding pockets could be seen as P2W, and probably would be. I don't see how you could make them worth purchasing WITHOUT being P2W.

Ah, I was only in IRC for about 5 minutes today. I didn't see anything he said, I just know Kern is a professional bullshitter. He claims to be a free speech advocate when he was the one who enforced censorship on the Firefall forums. Naw, I don't trust him - but he has given me the smallest sliver of hope for a better Firefall.
