I am no longer running a server in my garadge for space engies!

We have an IT friend who has secured us a brand new server in a Google Fiber datacenter! The world is called The Beggining and the server name is

Alpha <> Omega

I know its been brutal with my server crashing constantly and the sim speed being crap but we have load tested the new one and we cannot get the sim speed below 1.0!!!

We will not wipe this world and it is running on a proper Server SSD now so please come back and play with us same rules as before but now with stable planets that you can actually do stuff on!

Hey Everybody! I finished setting up the New Better Server at my place. The server is once again a PUBLIC server so keep and eye out for hackers!

This time around we should not have the same server slow down to a crawl problems like we had with the GameServers.com paid server. We are running SE SE with Essentials plugin. This allows us to do cool things like import and export ships while the server is running and All kinds of in game commands!!

Type / help ingame for a list of commands.


METEORS ARE ONLINE, One wave every 15 mins, so have lots of guns OR build inside/in the shadow of a asteroid.

Auto Gun turrets are now limited to 8 Gatling Turrets, 4 Missile Turrets, and 10 Interior Turrets. This is to reduce server lag, When capital ships shoot to many guns at once they bog down the server and the guns no longer due damage so theres not much point in haveing more that 8-10 active guns on a ship...

Also , ALL ships that are not being used on the server will be unloaded untill a player gets within 11km of it!! This saves a huge amount of server BS that killed the last servers.

We chose to start fresh again due to the server killing bug that was explorations ships spawning in over top of one another. Now we no longer will have explorations ships randomly ingame. BUT the server admins can do cool ♥♥♥♥ like teleport players and spawn in ships for unsuspecting players to get thumped by ;)

FTL Mod is installed on the server now, it takes a huge amount of stuff to build one! also has a 100km max jump range and will take up to 240 seconds to complete a jump!!

NUKES! Wrsaith made a Nuke block that does WAY more damage that the crappy warhead block. Also takes 25x the amount of explosives to make... Limit one per grid as enforced by essentials plugin ;)

Wait, Nukes plus FTL drive and programmable blocks?! ;D

BETTER Drills! Small Medium and Large drill are now replacing HUGE laggy grids of drills! limit one drill per ship BUT the large ship large drill is like having a 5x5 grid of em. this helps with lag, also the cost per drill is corrected to not be OP.

So we have our own server. But in order to properly make it a fun and propler 1x1x1x server.

Its a lag thing when it comes to balancing miners, welders, and grinders and if it makes it better to make our own versions with custom sizes and speeds/effenceies on them I would rather do that. What do you all think?

working to fix the save file we have some major server sim speed drop on every across the board eather due to a projector with a massively massive projection running. or some piston, rotor, timer, grinder, welder, or miner acdtion going on. i'm looking ito it right now.
