Please... Put a Shattered Horizon 2 together. Or release what you have before you all started hating each other... This game is beautiful and is so underrated. Even when Titanfall came out I still saw all the potential Shattered Horizon had. Hell, even if you just retextured the guns and added a perk system.... This game is gold... and beautiful. Hope you all are doing well.

Hey guys! I have two questions:
1) Are you associated/affiliated with the original developer (Futuremark) in any way?
2) Do you have the rights to use the name Shattered Horizon ?
I think it will be more of a spiritual successor than a sequel. Good luck anyways!

I really miss playin Shattered Horzion back in the day :( It was soooooo fun and sooooooo different than other FPSs out there. I'm glad you guys are makin a number 2 and along with the most powerful game engine. Can't wait for beta. Good luck and happy coding and mapping.

Blkueeyes, Are you able to adjust the size of the background image on the website?

I ask because I dont have the original files to do it myself. THe reason for doing this is to make the website load up much faster.

I'm on my 1st year of Digital Arts & Entertainment and will go towards game dev major. I'm extremely busy this summer due to some retakes I have to make but I'll see if I have the time to do some modeling...been thinking bout making a gun and the old multirifle pops into my head :)

If you psuedo code it all out first then move onto the scripting and attack this project iwth a plan, you will find that it is a lot easier. That is the first thing that should always be done when developing something for the first time, use a plan and break it into small stages.

Possibilities would be
Stage 1: Get the yaw pitch and elevation working. In otherwords getting something to move around all the 3 main axis upon a button press

Oh yeah, scripting, is hard.

There are tons of tuts on gametypes, custom weapons, sounds, but nothing on 6DOF controls tut wise...

@Cookie .. yes thats true ... I wrote it bad, I meant mainly models, textures - fill up this to any free angine and half the work done. you tune UI and physics and almost done. Ending with scripting - being the most chalanging one I guess.

If you would like some help with web dev, I am able to do that.

In relation to Dex. It is quite hard to pick up the code from a small application that someone else has made and decipher what is being done with it. In most instances it is easier and better for the development of the new game to start from scratch and just refer to parts of the concepts and/or code for ideas of how to procede.

I realy think that a reasonable starting point would be if FM would release complete code (well lets be direct here ... SH is death as a geme) and then someone (us) could take it and uber develope it ... anything else seems like pure fiction to me ....

Also, violating the copyrights isn't a problem, considering if we get a working prototype ready, FM is prepared to share the original content from Shattered Horizon, so long as we make no money off of it, which we aren't and the UDK allows for full developement, so long as you dont make money off of it when it isnt licensed. We want this game to be free, and that's what we're going to do.

Dex, you actually think that a week in to this group we have a playable game? We are learning from the ground up how to make SH2. We know what we want can be done, but learning code takes time. i don't see you making SH2, and quite frankly, I don't see you coding in UnrealScript Either.

If you want to help, please do, but don't be a buzzkill.

Hi guys .. do I understand it correctly thats nothing has been coded yet and the only thing present is engine framework ? How exactly "we" can even reproduce the original SH without violating copyrights of the original game ?

Well our website at www.spacelegends.net has coding section on forums and first thing we need to make happen is zero-g & demo gameplay on multiplayer server. so more information on forums, Danson can correct my mistakes if am wrong:D
