Have you tried the Blackbox mod?
I am one of the Blackbox developers and we took it upon ourselves to make the game better. We are working on this for free, as a hobby and because we think the game concept was really good, but the code quality was lacking.
Blackbox mod is actually direct code changes to the game (yes, we have been working on the code with permission from the dev for several years by now).
We fixed a lot of bugs/crashes and added many new features to the game.

Maybe you'll find Stardrive with Blackbox (and the Combined Arms content mod, which I also helped develop) a more pleasing game to play.

From my experience with sd1 I feel sd2 should be complementary (free) because I bought sd1 out of beta and it was not finished.. it's still full of horrible bugs and I did try to get a refund to no avail. I was banned from the steam community because I was so angry. Always read through the comments from users before you buy. I will never be buying another game from this guy and neither should you. This sort of behavior (false advertising) should not be supported or history will repeat itself...... you have been warned. ..

They claim it is "intangible". That was the same response as Paypal as well, even though I made the complaint before the time ran out. Every business is run by a Ferengi.

So has anyone successfully managed to wrest a refund out of Steam so far? Certainly seems like there are enough people who have made an attempt.

high profile threads will regularly disappear if zero finds them offensive.
He also deletes and "evidence" of his own worngdoings, or failures to live up to his word. that is the reason many of the forum participants are starting to screen capture and archive things on thier own or using the internet archives to support arguments. There is a thread in the group that people can use to store any info you feel is realevant in this regard.

Did anyone else notice a high-profile thread disappear over the last few days. Zero himself was commenting on it and doing his standard backflipping and not too long after I made a comment it just kind of disappeared. Maybe I'm not looking very well but it was very recent.

It's pretty clear that my opinions as a customer are not valued, nor am I going to get anywhere with my thread. It's got to the point where I realised that I'm no longer speaking to people but, having to argue with them to simply defend myself and that's simply unnaceptable. I remember an old internet quote: "Arguing on the internet is like winning the special Olympics, even if you win, you're still retarded" and as comical as that might seem (And somewhat offensive) it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ true and I can't be bothered to sit here arguing like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, any more.
