Left 4 Dead 1 is better for a lot of reasons. I'll just write down a few of the reasons.
1. The community is more forgiving than in L4D2, and there are less trolls
2. Simpler, which is often better.
3. No melee timer on campaign, which is balanced by the fact that there are no melee weapons.
4. Requires less RAM, so it runs better on old computers.
5. Has a more apocalyptic feel to it.
There are many more reasons why I like L4D better than L4D2. Those are just a few of them.
