Tomorrow's Wipe Map and Future of Rust Army

Hey everyone,

Here’s the map that will be used for tomorrow’s wipe below. Lately playrust.io hasn’t updated their map generator, so I’m hoping this will be very similar to what will be generated coming tomorrow.

On sad news, I will be planning on shutting down the server on February 15th for personal reasons. The good news is that it will be set on a wipe day, so it will be an easy transition into finding another server. I’d like to thank the admins that ran the server, as they did an amazing job and also the community – you guys were awesome.

Plans for Thursday

Recently, the server has been having hiccups and I want to address a few things for 1/19/2017. Thursday, I will be shutting down the server temporarily until the update hits (Dev update). I am going to be re-installing the server for a clean slate. I'm not entirely sure of what all has been happening with it, but to be safe a clean re-install will fix the problems.

I do apologize for the individuals that lost items in their crafting queue. In an ideal world, I would have loved to spawned in the materials that were lost. The negative to this, is that people take advantage. We only have proof of a screenshot, and once items are spawned in; the community gets upset. This is why we do not spawn in items. We hope you understand; indeed it is a crappy feeling for items to get stuck. It happens to us when we play on other servers, we know how it feels.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to provide everyone with news and information with the upcoming wipe, a new moderator and also assistance with reaching out to admins. I feel like these need to be addressed as we are receiving questions still after addressing information.

Wipe Map for 1/19

We will be choosing this map, we are listening to the community; everyone wants more PVP. You got it guys, this next wipe will be the size of 3,000. This should provide high PVP, but also ability to build, farm and for some to be isolated.

New Moderator

We brought in additional staff to cover additional shifts for coverage of the server! I would love for everyone to welcome Comrad, he’s been an original player for Rust Army since last year. Now that he is a mod, you may ask him for any assistance or concern!

Requesting an Admin

I want to bring forth this as topic, as this wipe seems to have been very one sided with requesting admin support. If you see a hacker, please PM us! It is so easy for a hacker to just toggle off no recoil or hack if they is getting blasted in chat for hacking. Also another thing I would like to address is please reach out to all admins. We are all here to help you, and recently an admin has been getting a ton of requests; while I was receiving very little. Remember we are all here to help you guys, and we don’t bite. Please keep in mind as well, if we do not reply to you right away; we are also assisting other players as well. So, please be patient and not pushy when asking for assistance.

New map and VAC ban policy

Hello Rust Army!

This is slightly smaller than the prior maps, which should result in more pvp action.

We have reconsidered our VAC ban policy and made a slight amendment. We will kick anyone who has more than one VAC ban, or a ban more recent than 365 days.

As always, please let me (or Shredder) know of any questions, concerns, interesting kinks, lag issues, or hacking suspicions.

1/5 wipe

Hello Rust Army!

The 1/5 update was delayed, but is now updated! The next wipe is still planned for Thursday afternoon.

The main changes in this update (of which I am aware):
- You will no longer be able to turn off shadows and audio occlusion. :(
- High external stone walls will be "harder to place."
- New landmarks will be introduced (2 new harbors).

12/29 wipe

Today's wipe will be at 4:00 pm EST. It does not look as if a developer's update is being released today. If one is released, we will update and restart (WITHOUT wiping) early in the morning when the fewest players are on. This will not affect any progress.

Stance on VAC/family share bans

Hello Rust Army!

Big news: In our attempt to keep the server hack-free and positive, we've decided to ban players with past VAC bans. I know that this may be seen as "overkill," as people with a single VAC ban from 987 days ago is unlikely to be cheating. We are, however, hoping to keep our players loyal and confident in the player quality of the server. We are proud of the community we are building and hope you share in our excitement.

We were also auto-kicking anyone on a family shared account that has a prior VAC or admin ban. If you feel as if the admin ban was unjustified (or do not know what caused it), please write to us and we will look into the ban notes.

January Wipe

Hello Rust Army!

Based on the population cycles and player feedback, we will be sticking with weekly wipes for a while. This schedule seems to keep the server interesting for the largest number of players.

The next map (for Thursday's wipe) will be:

This map is medium-sized (3500), with evenly distributed monuments. We are going with a slightly lower number of caves (19, instead of 24), as few people built in them in past wipes. This should result in better fps for all!

A note on hacking suspicions: please do not accuse people of hacking in the server chat. This will make actual hackers turn off their cheats. If you think that someone is hacking, please notify an admin by adding them on Steam and sending a message. You can check to see which admin is on by asking for an admin in server chat, or you can simply message Shredder and he will contact one of us. If you can record the suspicious activity, please do.
The admins on Rust Army spectate gameplay regularly. If I am on, I am spectating, usually based on your server chat hackusations (even if I don’t acknowledge them in server chat, as I don’t want suspicious players to know I'm on and watching them). Rest assured (and Rust assured) that we are working hard to keep this server hacker/cheater/and exploit-free.

Speaking of exploits, any player intentionally causing frame rate drops to gain an advantage over other players will be unceremoniously ban hammered. That is a cheat and an exploit...and annoying as hell.
