Fable in the "life lesson" sense, not the "made up" sense. Because we are all about the learning and enrichment of our lives.

Tell me more of your fanciful fable.

THIS TEAM SUCKS, IM GOING TO JOIN A BETTER TEAM, AND THEN YELL AT THE LEADER AND GET KICKED OFF THE TEAM AND THEN THAT TEAM PLAYS THIS TEAM AND LOSES AND THIS TEAM BECOMES CHAMPIONS AND I HAVE NO FRIENDS. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥,

CHEERISS 17 Apr, 2011 @ 1:20pm
I want to take a trip to Mango Island. There we can all have margaritas and sit in the sun. All while watching those waves as they hit the sand.
TinKelp 13 Apr, 2011 @ 12:29pm
Just imagine Ryan looks more angry than amused.
TinKelp 13 Apr, 2011 @ 12:27pm

snot coming out of your arsehole is a unique and, frankly, unsettling experience. makes you feel like an alien or something.

Look to one of our leaders, Kessel, for amazing commentary. :P (Above in group description.) <3

just a note that next's week match - should you want to start practising - is KOTH SAWMILL
Kessel 17 Mar, 2011 @ 4:58pm
sorry I haven't been lobbying, I've been a bit burnt out on tf2 lately. I might do some tonight. I'll post an announcement if we get anything going
CHEERISS 16 Mar, 2011 @ 8:23pm
I haven't played on a lobby for about a week. But if I do, I will send you an invite so annoucements can be made.
TinKelp 16 Mar, 2011 @ 7:00pm
I don't know, when are you going to invite me to the lobbies that you join? I've seen you and other teammates start TF2 at the same time to join a password protected server with 18 people in them. If you bring me in on these then I can make an announcement to alert everyone at once.
CHEERISS 16 Mar, 2011 @ 6:47pm
:( when are we going to practice as a team?
some of that ol' atonal music 2 Mar, 2011 @ 10:16pm
I just realized this - there's no way I can make the next match I'm going to be out of town. I might miss the match after that, too, depending on when I get back in. As such, if we're scrimming Thursday I probably won't be there unless you absolutely need someone around (since someone who'll play should get the practice).
Kessel 28 Feb, 2011 @ 3:13pm
two announcements are up:

1) competitive teams have reviewed our demo from last night's gpit match. read what they have to say;

2) we have some pre-match notes on Turbine. Keep these notes in mind as you practise in lobbies this week.

cheers!
Kessel 24 Feb, 2011 @ 12:29pm
Just want to add that we're playing lobbies pretty much nightly, so if you want some practice come join us
CHEERISS 24 Feb, 2011 @ 1:59am
I like mango's suggestions. :P

BTW if you are looking to get better at your TF2 class, read this forum tread. They have amazing tips. I have only read the first two pages, but the comments and tips are excellent.

I'll post the report tomorrow, I've been a bit swamped

Confirmed with Tinkelp that there is NO SCRIM TOMORROW. Go have fun, live life, have sex
billybob_jp 23 Feb, 2011 @ 2:56am
this is required reading for our next matchup :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zSnLt2As6Y&feature=relmfu theres also one on A and C.... you can skip the A one, but C also has some good points.
TinKelp 22 Feb, 2011 @ 6:17pm
They haven't messaged me back. What's the status on our post-match report, Kessel?
CHEERISS 22 Feb, 2011 @ 10:31am
What is the status on the practice scrim with gR this Thursday?
Kessel 14 Feb, 2011 @ 11:18am
yase, it's up now
some of that ol' atonal music 13 Feb, 2011 @ 10:41pm
so sorry I missed the scrim - still feeling kinda awful. Kessel, are you doing another writeup?
IAmKale 7 Feb, 2011 @ 5:15pm
I am a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scrub who can't keep track of when games are. Sorry for missing the game on Saturday, I'll try harder to be there for the next game...write a post-it note or something :(
Kessel 6 Feb, 2011 @ 10:31am
... which makes the team very dispersed. It'll be very easy to lose track of what's happening and the map is huge.

As usual, I'll be there early to tour the map. Come if you can! We'll need at least 15 to 20 minutes to go through the map because it's ENORMOUS.

Great work last night! As our win record improves, we're going to be matched against better and better teams. Get ready!
Kessel 6 Feb, 2011 @ 10:29am
... will just wait for you to back into his knife.

3) We were too cautious. Again, I take responsibility for this one, since I emphasised staying in position and not dying during the pre-match tour. When we had the advantage (e.g. Tinkelp's banner was up) we should have pushed in HARD and taken their platform. Instead, we let their engineer build his sentry in their spawn and then cart it out over and over again. He also had some creative placement which made it hard for us to break the sentry.

---

ALL that being said, last night's match was one of our best. We communicated well, had solid teamwork and made jokes about Amazonian women over Mumble. The first three rounds showed us how just some simple organisation can catch the enemy completely off-guard. This was one of the more organised teams we've played against, and we pulled through splendidly.

Next week:

We're playing Coldfront. This is ANOTHER standard competitive map, and it's our weakest matchtype - 5 Control Point...
Kessel 6 Feb, 2011 @ 10:23am
... timer. I saw that we only had three people up and waited in spawn for the board to light up. When everyone came out, I made the decision to change our plan and go up by the "exotics" cliffside instead of the platform. Everyone instantly followed and we dropped down like a hammer onto the point. The enemy team was caught off-guard because they were on our platform side and couldn't get back in time.

For future matches, I'll have backup strats ready - I promise :(

2) We let the enemy spy run all over us. He didn't get much done on the main group (our pyro made sure of that) but he would constantly get stabs on people venturing out to point or coming out of spawn.

As a career spy, I can say that checking your back every two seconds is useless. You need to concentrate on the fighting in front of you. Better ways to deal with spies:
- always be moving;
- shoot everyone;
- don't move in linear and predictable patterns. Like, don't go back and forth over and over again. The spy...
Kessel 6 Feb, 2011 @ 10:19am
... knows WHICH house or cliff you're talking about.

Special shout-out to Awesome, who continually updated us on the state of her uber ("I'm almost ready, I'm up.") This is important for the rest of the team to know, so we can push in. Tinkelp and Persian also made it clear whenever we were on the point.

Things we needed to learn from last night:

1) We had a plan and we stuck to it, then the enemy wisened up. They specifically targeted our shelf and pushed us back to spawn - and then our plan fell apart.

I'll take personal responsibility for this one. We went through what to do AFTER we had the point, but I didn't specify what the backup plan was. I remember someone saying "Guys, we're really disorganised right now", and that was spot-on. This cost us two solid rounds and we were beginning to lose morale.

In the sixth match (the one right after the break, where the score was 3-2), we were again being pushed back to spawn even though we didn't have that long left on the point...
Kessel 6 Feb, 2011 @ 10:13am
Hallo hallo, it's the Jan 5 post-match writeup!

We had another great match last night, winning 4-2 against a team who were organised and good sports all round. Viaduct is a compact, violent, fast-paced map and I'm glad that we kept up the pressure to the end.

Things we did good:

1) We had a plan and we stuck to it. Everyone showed up early for the pre-match tour and learned the plan we "formulated" (read: stole wholesale from actual competitive team). When the match began, we stayed in position and won the first three rounds very cleanly. I'm convinced that our superior positioning and teamwork gave us these victories.

2) Comms were the best they've ever been. The decision to add class names to Mumble was an IMMENSE help (especially when you need to say things like "I'm down.") Everyone called out enemy targets and used the right terms for their location (e.g. "enemy soldier, on OUR cliffs.")

The location terms are important because they allow us to be consistent and everyone...
TinKelp 1 Feb, 2011 @ 10:54am
Nice write up! I'll keep that Equalizer idea in mind for later. Not sure how useful it'll be at Viaduct with the one control point so close to spawn.
Kessel 1 Feb, 2011 @ 8:45am
... a great job as the heavy so I'm not too concerned here.

4) We kept losing the second point (spire) because their demo and soldier kept jumping up there. Francis and Tinkelp did their best though, and we got them off it quite a number of times.

Great things we did last night:

- Our communication was consistently solid. We coordinated pushes and holds, bbob was constantly moving his stuff and telling us where he moved it.

- That means our teamwork was good. I think good teamwork trumps individual skill hands-down.

- We had a lot of fun.

Next week is Viaduct! Also another bog-standard competitive map, with a lot of close fighting. I'll be there early again to show people the positions, just like last night, so come in 15 mins early if you can!

Great work last night. It was one of the most fun matches we've played.
Kessel 1 Feb, 2011 @ 8:40am
Lessons we could learn from last night:

1) Our run to mid is really slow. The other team consistently reached the midpoint before us and that always results in us taking a defensive stance early in the match.

This isn't optimal but the only way to reach there faster is to rocket/sticky-jump well. Consider having the medic heal the demoman while the soldier uses the Equaliser to move quickly (just hurt yourself in spawn at the start).

2) The enemy team had a good spy and he was getting more backstabs in than we should have let him. We need to watch out for this one; I've seen some matches in which the spy runs roughshod over the enemy team and it's really downhill from there.

Radiocarbon didn't get backstabbed often at all, though, and we managed to backstab their medic quite a number of times, so the ubers were in our favour.

3) We spycapped them three times. That should remind us that we also need to be vigilant, we were spy/scoutcapped once and it was maddening.

Ep plus did
Kessel 1 Feb, 2011 @ 8:35am
Post-match report!

As you may already know, we won a very close fight (5-4) on badlands last night. It was a great match. Sorry to the people who couldn't play! :( We were 2-2 in the first half, 2-2 in the second half and won basically by tiebreaker.

We played a good match. Our soldier and medic were taking down the right people, Francis backstabbed a million people as the scout, Ep Plus did a really good job as heavy and saved our last point from backcap more than a few times. Shinoobi is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bodyshotter as well as a headshotter and I saw him take the medic for a ride. Bbob had great engy positioning and was constantly on the move with his gun, and communicated well with the team. Our pyros (shaimus and nihon) are riots with the flamethrower.
