Last month we announced that we were going through a period of reconstruction. That time is coming to a close very soon as we tie up some last details and get ready to continue forging our new way forward.

The last month or so we've been holding polls and surveys about the future of IoFT. As a whole staff, we felt it best to move on from past IoFT practices and have a total overhaul of server structure including rules, violation handling, discord reconstruction and other miscellaneous things. There's a full changelog on our discord linked below. We felt that the values that IoFT had started with were no longer being upheld to the standard you all deserved, and so we did what we should've - we're working toward fixing it. IoFT was, and should have always been built by and for the community.

Since we blasted away at IoFT's core structure we decided a little facelift was in order too - and thus we held polls for the renaming of our community, and a new name was chosen.

The discord has already been reworked nearly entirely by our team of dedicated Community Leaders, Discord Wizards and Head Staff. Soon, the Steam page will follow. We just wanted to give you lovely folk a chance to hear about it from us.

- On November 1st, we downgraded slot size to cut down on unused resources and have swapped the Legacy server to Evrima for a 3 week trial period to see how things go. Population on sandbox has been dropping steadily despite the popular poll being to keep it. When a server stands empty for most of the day, it’s not serving a purpose. This is an experiment to see what kind of population change the transition might bring.

- Rules on Evrima will be bare-bones due to a lack of replays and enforcement opportunities. Rules will be announced a couple days in advance as a temporary post to the #legacy-isle-rules channel in our Discord.

Some notes on Evrima
1. For reports, to find steamIDs you will have to look at your recently played with lists in steam, then use this site to grab the steamID from the profile link: https://steamid.xyz/

2. If you are loading to a black screen, your keybinds are funky, or any other issues after first switching to Evrima from Legacy, delete your saved folder and re-launch the game.

3. Since Evrima doesn't have an in-game global chat we'll be having players use the already existing Isle VC channels in our Discord. Each VC channel has its own chat built in, just hover your mouse over the name and pop open the chat window. This way you can join and pack up with folks and just stay muted if you only want to type.

4. Please drop any #suggestions for Evrima settings and events, and please keep in mind that suggestions asking us to switch back to Legacy will not be considered. The Evrima server will be in trial from Nov 1st until the end of November, at which point we will see how the month has treated it.

5. We are removing the monthly character data wipe. It looks like it may be responsible for the lack of bans sticking. The overall slots are also lowering to 40 though the rest of the settings should remain the same including the server name.

The Evrima server is a minimal rules server because without replays we cannot enforce most rules. We are not a semi-realism or realism server. You cannot play on this server if you are under 13 years of age, we are bound by Discord and Steam ToS. Teleports and Grows are not being provided at this time unless you are a raffle winner.

The Evrima server will be trialed from 10/31 till 11/30.

Chat Rules and Guidelines
These chat rules apply to Global, Local, and any Group chat in-game. Do not discuss violations in in-game chat, please open a ticket through discord if you wish to discuss or appeal the violation.

1. Avoid Sensitive Topics: Topics such as politics, sexuality, civil rights, lifestyle choices, personal grievances, substance abuse, etc. should not be discussed in public chats. Keep these conversations in DMs.

2. Personal Disputes/Harassment is Not Allowed: Excessive rudeness, name calling, the use of slurs, carrying on a personal disagreement or dispute, slandering the community and/or staff, or slandering another community is not allowed. If you do not drop the subject or keep going after an Admin has asked you to stop, you will receive a violation.

3. Slurs are Not Allowed: Abusive speech, slurs (including ableist, homophobic, racist, etc.) and overly sexual and inappropriate language are not tolerated and will result in an immediate Permanent Ban. Slurs can include but are not limited to the following (spoilered for sensitive themes): ♥♥♥♥♥♥/Retarded, ♥♥♥♥♥♥/♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥/♥♥♥♥♥♥. If we see use of any slur that is not included here/explicitly stated here, it is still a Permanent Ban-worthy offense. If we see any form of loopholing the rules to use a slur, it is still a Permanent Ban-worthy offense.

4. No Explicit Sexual Topics: Slang for sexual parts, references to sexual acts, soliciting innapropriate attention, or otherwise being sexually inappropriate is not allowed. We are a community with minors and take these instances very seriously.

Enforcing Rules & Admin Discretion
Admins are the final say in-game when it comes to enforcing rules and correcting players.

1. No Minimodding: Players are encouraged to remind each other what the rules are and how they should be followed. However it is not up to a player to enforce the rules. Do not harass, bully, argue with, or otherwise involve yourself in a rulebreak situation. Those that break server rules should be reported to isle-reports using the pinned template and tag @legacy staff. You will need to use Steam's 'Recently Played With' function to find their SteamIDs and this site to translate profile URLs to a SteamID: https://steamid.xyz/

2. Admin Instructions: Admins have discretion to enforce the rules as needed. They may ask a pack to split or players to move further away from each other, as well as general rule reminders. Failure to listen to Admin instructions will result in a violation.

3. Admin Abuse: We take Admin responsibilities seriously, and any instances where you feel an Admin was unfair, showing bias, rule-breaking, or otherwise abusing their abilities should be reported to a Head Admin or Owner in discord. You can do so by asking for one in #ask-an-admin or DMing them directly.

Violation Enforcement

Staff only give violations when someone has broken one of the rules listed in this channel. If you feel like you were given a violation wrongly or unfairly, please open a ticket to discuss the matter in #violation-inquiry.

1. Violation Process: Players are granted many chances to avoid a permanent ban on the IoFT server. Most violations follow the following escalation: Warning -> Kick -> 24-hr Temporary ban -> 48 hour Temporary ban -> 72-hr Temporary ban -> 96 hour Temporary ban -> Permanent ban (potential to appeal) -> Permanent ban (no appeal) and removal from Discord.

2. Immediate Permanent Bans: Cases of slur usage, particularly appalling behaviors, ban-evasion, and other extreme situations may be granted an immediate permanent ban regardless of how many violations the player has previously received. Ban-evaders and those able to get on the server after being permanently banned with no appeal will be re-permed.

3. Hard Warnings: If a player has gone 2 months with good behavior (no violations) Admins can choose to give them a Hard Warning instead of their next violation. This is up to Admin discretion and repeat offenses of the same nature are less likely to be granted a Hard Warning.

4. Counter-Reports & Appeals: If someone has made a report against you and you do not believe you rule-broke, you can make a counter-report in the #isle-reports channel following the same report template pinned in the channel. To appeal a previous violation, including a permanent ban, please open a ticket in #violation-inquiry. Violations can be appealed only if you can provide evidence that a rule was not broken or that you were reported in error. Those already serving a permanent ban that have not had it appealed may use #violation-inquiry to request an appeal.

No Rules does not have to mean that toxicity gets a free pass. We want to ensure our playerbase remains open and inviting to anyone who wants to join. We should not have to have rules and a threat of punishment over your heads to get y'all to play nice with each other.

Staff has already received concerns and incident reports from players where members of the community behave negatively towards them without an in-game reason.

We will still be without rules for a short while as more back-end tinkering is done with the game logs and other server management choices are made. In the meantime please keep in mind that we're all here to play the same game and have fun. Help yourself and the server's population by keeping the experiences of others in mind.

IoFT has a new set of rules for its Legacy Sandbox server!
You will see similar rewrites and changes to both the FAQ and Discord Rules in the future as we bring everything up-to-date and ensure information is displayed effectively.

While most of the rules have been simply reworded or re-arranged, we do have some rule additions and removals. Some of those additions or removals have been voted on by our community and did not pass popular vote. While we acknowledge that the majority of players were not in favor of these changes, changes have to be made to accommodate our Staff and the workload they perform under. Additionally, this will help pave the way for upcoming changes such as the violation system re-do, which I know a lot of you are excited for. If we don’t have players, we don’t have a server. If we don’t have staff, we don’t have a server. This is part of the balance that will keep us going into the future as a functional community.

Speaking of the future, some of you have also noticed that IoFT has been a lot quieter both in-game and in the discord lately. The Isle Legacy has reached its end of life, and has been in that status for a long time. End of Life means that it is not a project being supported or developed by its creators. These days it is showing its age more than ever as other games rise up with better function, more features, and game mechanics that make them easier to moderate.

We are not closing the isle server right now but we are looking at transitioning to a new game sometime within the next year if the devs don’t beat us to it and shut legacy down. Right now the best option is Path of Titans followed by Evrima. We’ll keep you posted as things are decided, and give the players more opportunity to vote on whatever changes we'll be looking to implement.


RULES CHANGELOG
-- Reformatted, re-arranged, and added more explanation to each rule in an attempt to combine parts of the FAQ into the ruleset while keeping it as simple as possible
-- Added an intro to each rule category and to the top of the rule list to further clarify or provide important info

-- Added rule to enable herbivores to be pro-actively defensive/aggressive if it’s clear they’re being hunted
-- Removed hunt-the-hunter rules leaving the body down rule as the fight decider. Anyone can hunt whomever as long as the fight stops when a body drops
-- Added a rule that you cannot defend any dinosaur you are not packed with, regardless of if you are an herbi or carni
-- Added L1 as a safe zone with its own set of rules
-- Added more details on our current violation system and how to take action if you feel like you have been wronged by a member of staff

Hello, everyone! We are going through a couple Trial rules, which a poll will be held on our Discord on 7/11 by the community on whether to keep or revoke said rules. See details below!

The first is regarding claiming bodies. This trial rule establishes that if you want to claim your body or gore, you need to claim it from Tiers Only rather than individual species or players. For example, if you want to claim against apexes, you must claim against all apexes. You cannot include select friends or specifically exclude other players. If they fall under any tier you are claiming from, you claim against them as well. Your pack/herdmates are included in the claim by default, that is remaining the same. Additionally all other claiming/contesting rules remain the same.

Example(s):
- You are a Rex paired with another Rex. You selectively claim a body against Midtiers. You must either let all Midtiers eat, or claim against all Midtiers, even if your friend is an allo and wants a bite.
- You are a utah and you claim against apexes. You must defend your meal from any apexes, not just rexes.

Note: This does not mean players can "pack hop" to eat. You cannot leave a partner or pack to join the claiming pack to eat, then leave them to return to your original group. That is loopholing to overpack and you will receive a violation if Staff observe this behavior.


In response to community feedback, Staff agreed to introduce a new High Tier of dinosaurs to help better manage claiming and how packs interact on the server / managing the claiming Trial rule. We will be going forward with the following packing and tier changes ALONG WITH the Tier Claiming trial rule for another week to evaluate how well it goes and gather feedback. On 7/11 both trial rules will be voted on so the community can decide if it's the right fit for us.

Like any rule in packing and playing, please do your best to educate fellow players before making reports as not everyone sees these announcements. It will take some adjustments and Staff is going to make all attempts to let people know of the new limits before issuing violations if ignored.
