The Earl of Jefferson, Alexander Cooke, has taken his stance in the Slavery Debate ongoing in Alabama, he also has shown an interest in the affairs of the Dominican people.

While Slavery has long been a benefit to Southern economy, our nation has little to gain from keeping this age old custom, however, dispite my stance on this matter, I strongly oppose any measure aimmed at introducing the Black man onboard a Alabamian naval vessel, my reasonings are many and too much to say here, and should be taken into account before anyone starts introducing wild cards to the Prince, one step at a time please. Europe has long abandoned this tradition, our time has come as well.

Ranks and Uniforms: A more proper Navy

In other news, the Rank stucture of the Alabamian Navy was recently changed, the rank of High Admiral, being changed to Admiral of the Fleet, alternetively called Grand Admiral, while the Prince was bestowed the rank of Commander-in-Chief, new uniforms were also adopted, with the Navy taking on a liking after the Royal Navy, the old uniforms of the Confederate Navy were finally laid to rest in the new Naval Museum in Birmingham.

Hispanola? A new playground for the Navy?

With the acquisition of the eastern part of Hispanola, the Earl of Jefferson, has shown an interest in gaining property on the Isle, for both himself, and his naval adventures.. Now it is only a matter of time before Cooke's Sugar & Berries can be a company. The stated reason for this interest is, Expanding the Mobile shipyard and docks would infringe upon the neighboring Duchy of Mobile.

Was the title of an opinion piece produced by a "Daniel Hawke" today would be on the front page, the piece was several paragraphs long, it included pictures of slaves beaten and wiped, even while this is illegal in the Principality, this didn't stop slave masters from doing such.

Daniel Hawke argued from an moral and economic standpoint:

"Slavery is abhorent, one cannot properly call themselves Christian if one cannot find it in his heart to view another human being as just that, another human being."

"Slavery takes away jobs and labour from the white working population, imagine how much the economy would be doing better without slavery, a system that already has brought the Alabamian economy down and will probably continue to bring it down as manufacturing booms in the other states of America and the world. Many Middle class whites and working class whites are out of a job and cannot contribute to the economy.

The acquisition of the Dominician Republic will only bring about more economic hardship, and a large black population that will not want to become slaves and will violently resist this."

Daniel Hawke's last article is a call for action on the issue of making slavery illegal, including the phasing out of slavery over a period of five years. This opinion piece will be written on every newspaper owned by the Populist party in other counties and in Mobile.

Today the governmemt of the Dominican Republic has declared its surrender to the Principality of Alabama, and now is officially apart of the Principality of Alabama today. We have to thank our great Prince, Prince Charles Xavier, 2nd of House Mobile, currently holds the title holder for the Dominican Republic until it can be fully intergrated into the Principality. However Troops under the former Dominican Republic have pledged not to stop fighting. So while the government may have surrendered, the troops under a Major Josué Pareja intend to fight.

Earlier today, a huge event has happened, The Watchers, murderer of Duke Harvey Carlyle, attempted to ambush Grand Princess Catherine Xavier and Princess Kate Xavier's royal carriage. However the Royal Guards were able to hold them off, several were captured and about 12 were killed. This reportedly set the Grand Prince into a Rage, Mother and Daughter ambushed, but yet saved.

Grand Prince Walter Xavier has declared The Watchers a Kill or Capture on site, and each member will be payed for, out of the personal Treasury of Walter Xavier.

The Klan Says No to the Negro

The Faction know as The Klan has been up to no good as well. Klan members had prepared a local raid on the Mobile Free Slave Association, which had 2 ships prepared to go to a former American Colony called Liberia, the Duke Of Mobile however has been hailed as a hero, as Levy from his Duchy actually found these men and arrested them and got said information out of them.

Dominicans wont surrender....yet

Troops of the Dominican Republic have reportedly been deserting after a huge victory by The 1st Alabama Army, lead by the great Command and son of the Grand Prince, Prince Charles Xavier, after a minor setback, troops were able to strike a critical blow, and have landed on the Republic, its only a matter of time before we win folks.

The Watcher Threat

It has been about a year since the rebel group, known as the Watchers, kidnapped Duke Harvey I Carlyle of Dale, held him for ransom, and was killed after a rescue attempt. The Carlyles have been faithful vassals to the Grand Prince since the formation, And they will continue to be loyal, however Anna-Sophia has begun steps to a different path than her fathers. The now 17 year old Duchess has spent most of her time at the Family estate in Dothan, attending Sunday School after Sunday Mass, and dealing with the Watcher insurgency, which has begun to move into the newly acquired Panhandle which has been given to both the Duchy of Dale and the Duchy of Mobile. With some of the Dale men marching to war with Hispaniola, her men have been spread thin in the Duchy. For every victory against the Watchers, it seems there is a loss. However, she has not backed down, and with the help of the rest of the Princedom, they are getting the upper hand. Grunts of the Watchers caught in Dale have been thrown into jail, while King-pins and leaders have begun to be hung or executed once caught. Anna-Sophia has not forgotten the gruesome death her father incurred at their hands.

Religious Beliefs

Anna-Sophia is a devout Catholic, and it has been 5 years since a Papal Bull has pushed for abolishing slavery, and with that order, all of mainland Europe and most of the civilized World has followed. The United States was split because of this issue, and now it returns. Anna-Sophia has already under the table begun to pay her families slaves, and the Carlyle family owns almost half of the Slaves in Dale. With the rumor of the Grand Prince wanting to end it, she has publicly stated her support for the push. When we first fought for our freedom against Britain, we fought for all men to be created equal, and we in the South abused such things, for a profit. But God is against such actions, and it is finally time for the slaves to be freed.

Security for the Future

After the assassination of Harvey I Carlyle, Nathaniel Hall, Duke of Hale had invited Anna-Sophia north to their lands. With the Watchers now being pushed back it was much safer for her to ride to Hale. She spent a fortnight in the Duchy and after she left it seems an alliance of sort was made, and also a promise. Anna-Sophia would be betrothed to Nathaniel's eldest son, Blake Hall. Their children would take the name Hall-Carlyle, forming a new dynasty, in which their Eldest child would rule over Hale, and the second eldest would rule the Duchy of Dale. If only one child was produced, the Duchy of Dale would move onto Victoria, the next in line as of now. If no children were produced it would move onto each respective heir as it stands now.

The talks of ending slavery have came up again, with mutible groups for and against it, the Grand Prince has infact wanted to end it personally, but recent things, such as this war has brought a temporary hold on these plans. Soon we will see if some men can be free.
