Heya, everyone!

I realize that a lot of people that may or may not be getting this message doesn't play on LiF anymore or even just my particular server. I haven't been around because, well, on my end this is the type of game that I would pick-up on and off for the years to come.

A couple of months ago, I left the server into capable hands of admins who I hope has done everyone justice in the time that I've been absent. I am by no means returning to the game for awhile, but just wanted to clarify that while I'm absent, I will not be paying for the server out of my pocket. This announcement is meant to ask you, the players, to donate as without another payment, the server will go down after January 2nd.

This is a little short-noticed, I know. I currently host the server via the guys at Blue Fang Solutions. Originally, the cost for running the server was 35 USD but that has dropped ten dollars. If I could just get twenty dollars in donation, I'll happily chip in the remainder as a sort of Holiday present, and the server will run another month.

While I haven't been a part of the game or community for months now, the server is still in my name, under my account on the Blue Fang Solution's website, so I still have the responsibility of paying them off.

(For those of you who were around when the game went out on Dec 1st, a missed payment was exactly the reason why it went out).

Server Wiped!

Server is back online and has been wiped. I do apologies to anyone for the downtime and I doubly apologize to people who may not have wanted the server wiped. We'll be advertising on Reddit and I hope that the community can show their support.

Skillcap has been up'd to 800. The multiplier has been toned down slightly. "PvE" should have been stricken from the title but it appears that it might not have. I'll work on that when I have the time.

As always, post to the community forums as it's far preferable to getting PM'd.

Pending Server Wipe

As I type this message up, Blue Fang (the company that hosts my server for me) is wiping the server as I've received a lot of requests to do so. When the server starts anew, there will be a "minor" switch in that it won't be advertised as a PvE environment but rather a PvP/RP encouraged server.

Some may or may not have noticed/cared about my absence over the last couple of weeks. I had been a bit busy and sidetracked by a couple other games. Also, admittedly, I had been a little burnt out on handling complaints and issues as admining the server quickly began to eat up my time as a player, it was hard for me to enjoy it. I'm newly refresh and I'm not quite working alone as many of my peers have stepped up and have done a stellar job admining in my absence!

I hope with this fresh start we can bring in fresh players, fresh conflicts (that don't involve cheating, I hope), and provide an environment/community that will, overall, get along.

Hotfix

Server has been down due to a hotfix placed by the devs. Apparently, after the last patch (and before this hotfix), people were able to use the GM commands without the GM passwords.

Blue Fang Solutions, the chaps who host the server for me, have been running updates and, as of this post, the server has been stopped (by them), and when this happens, the server is usually up within half an hour -- which is a generous overestimation. Sorry for the convenience! I expect the server will be up shortly.

PS. Also, if people would be willing to send me reports as to whether or not they've noticed animals spawning, that would be great. If the animals haven't spawned since the reboot, it looks like I'll need to go through the process of manually deleting any and all corpses I can find which I'll get to later today (I hope).

A scheduled server reboots will start at 1:30pm. Expected downtime to be five minutes. There will be no ingame announcement other than this so please pass the word.

These scheduled server reboots benefit hunters as I'm VERY confident this is the result of animals corpses being counted against the total animal count of the server (which is suppose to number to a 100). Now, to test this out, I've decided to NOT delete animal corpses and do a reset and see if animals populate the server again. When this happens, current aninal corpses will spawn all the stuff they use to have, so feel free to take all that stuff again.

In the event that animals do not spawn, I will do another server reboot when I find the time to fly around the server to clean up the corpses.

Server Restored and Future Plans

The server has been restored! For those who do not know, I don't host the server myself but it's hosted by the lovely people at Blue Fang Solutions. I currently do not have the ability to patch my own server but they say that I eventually will be able to. In the meantime, when a patch is released, they try to patch it themselves as quickly as possible but they have a lot of servers to maintain so it doesn't always get done right away.

An arena will be built! It will be used for server sponsored events and will be tucked out of the way. Check the forum for future updates.

First One of Us Server Event

While not necessarily an in-game event, I present to you guys an art contest! Rules and details are/will be posted in the group forum -- come check it out.

Also, if you know of new players who've actually stuck around the server for more than a day, please invite them to join into the steam group so they can participate in this and future events!

Proper Wall Climbing

The server rules have been updated in regards to WALL CLIMBING and the role of a RAIDER(S) to COVER THEIR OWN ASS with SCREENSHOTS.

I don't mind doing investigations... but they also take up a lot of time to do and often times it's hard to figure out who to believe.

RAIDERS will now be responsible to COVER THEIR ASS by snapping a screenshot which ONLY TAKES A SECOND TO DO. What do you take a picture of?

Easy -- how you got in. You don't need to show this to the defenders -- they need to figure out the flaw in their defense. But if someone cries out that there's been a wall exploit, you need to prove yourself to an ADMIN.

RAIDERS WHO FAIL TO PROVIDE SCREENSHOTS WILL BE BANNED TEMPORARILY. The length of the ban will grow longer and longer with repeate offenses.

Animals and Animal Counts

So it seems that the game doesn't respawn animals, and I think this is mainly due to the fact that animal corpses count toward the maximum animal count (which is at 100 right now). The admins will clear out corpses every few days and restart the server. I'll post a seperate discussion thread for this so that you can check when the next restart will happen.

The next server restart and cleanup will occur on Tuesday, October 7th, with cleanup starting midmorning and the reboot to the server starting at about 11 AM EST with an expected downtime of 5 minutes.

The server is up!

The extended downtime was likely my fault. I was testing out a new script and the main.cs file did not take to it too well. I probably could've saved us all some time by backing up the original file before messing with it. I, however, am an amatuer and this did not cross my mind.

In any rate, the server is back up -- see you there!
