New DTF map! Only problem- I need someone to host it. Someone talk to me, for im not making it public to EVERYONE.

@mr.Beta, i'm not sure I can understand your english as well as you think.

One team tried to bring a person to a 'goal' and another team tried to defend?

The problem with is that one team could just spam for 20 minutes and nothing would happen. The classes aren't important yet, the idea and map needs a lot of refining.

new gamemode
name: escort the bomb (need better name)
objective: when ur dirrectly on a person who will play as the bomb he will move the other side has to stop if the other side gets on top of bomb the bomb (person) will rapidly tap "a" once the bomb gets to the other sides hole the game ends and 20 mins have pasted and the bomb hasnt reached the other side wins
classes:Archer cobalt ranger set primary weapon: demon bow secondary: flintlock pistol 160 hp Warrior: cobalt sword cobalt warrior armour, annoying sunfury 200hp Scout: shadow set dual hook broken shotgun hermes boots 120 hp Heavy: annoying minishark, broken shotgun 300 hp Mage: annoying waterbolt jungle armour set annoying flamelash

@Sir Profiterole VII, From just your explination i know the rounds would be really long, but i do suggest you make the map and try it out since some things aren't possible to explain in theory. Different playstyles can create weird rounds and all sorts of results =P

Hello everyone, i am in the process of making my map and i need some help, please read the description as it has changed a lot

there are 4 teams in opposite corners, in each base there is 3 switches ( one for each of the other teams) , 3 gates (which to open you need to have flicked all the switches in the other teams' bases) , a lever behind all the gates and a bed with an active stone block beneath it ( the lever behind all the gates will deativate the blocks beneath the other 3 teams bed). The map is all underground (made of candy cane) with tunnels through it. There are also 6 rooms which have a obstacle course in them, in the middle of these rooms there will be buffs such as heart crystals and mana stars or mabye buff potions. It will be a 5v5v5v5

My problem is that i don't know what kind of classes i should use here are the things that CAN'T be included in the classes:
1. Grapple hook of any kind
2. Cloud in a bottle or shiny red balloon
3.Invis or grav potion
4. No engineer

@Flutter is AWESOME, I'm not sure what you would do if you don't have the ideas and you need someone that can make a map? I'm busy with my own projects but if you want to make a map, i suggest you either build one or come up with a nice enouygh draft form someone to become interested =)

@masterscarab, Ok i think you need to think of the early game phase, how does the starting area look like and how will you get the players to either side depending on their team?
The race genre isn't very new but it's a fun one. The real problem is that you've got a lot to compete with, so what you have to do to be noticed is to make a better one then anyone else, and when it comes to racing it's all about looks and design.
If something really looks like it was built in TEdit, sloppy or rushed it's kinda boring. You also don't want generic digging the whole game, make a pair of custom caves that connect to one another and maybe some underground houses with working stations?

Basically, your idea is great, but it's not new, so you need to up the anty and beat all the old ones by doing something way better or innovative.

Revised rules for Race to Hell: Two teams have a preparation time of 15 minutes, after which the aforementioned dig site area is opened. The way I've made the map, there are two distinct tunnels for a little bit and then gaps in the dividing wall start appearing, allowing for PVP. Another gimmick is that there is demonite ore forming a maze-like area which would provide an incentive for players to try for a gold pickaxe instead of just sticking with copper. Any other gimmick-type ideas are welcome as to the construction of the mineshaft. I think I'll have two switches at the bottom to be pressed, and each one would 1) set off explosives under the other team's switch and 2) destroy the other team's beds. That way, there can be a clear winner. After the game, the Wall of Flesh will be summoned for fun :) further ideas? Commentary?

If it is softcore, how about if you die, you spawn right outside the arena and if ur team/team mate wins, you join in with them again?

We also have closed alpha testing within the group to get good feedback. Map makers tend to have OCD regarding small issues which is good for anyone making a new map or gamemode ^_^

@MathGeek, I'm not sure how much you've tested that gamemode but i can only assume that the balance is not there yet. Having a class with invisibility potion and whout any adding armor or accessories it seems a bit too strong, especially when the mode is about flipping a switch and the eliminating one side.

Sorry for sounding a bit harsh but the classes do not seem balanced in theory, I'd need more information to falsify my belief in that.

Regarding the foundational idea;
I like CW clones and especially with explosives, but it all comes down to how the map looks and feels when playing it, so it could either be a super amazing map which makes the gamemode AMAZING or it can feel rushed and un-creative. As mentioned, i need more to say if it's good or bad.

@Fire_Melon, I have a hard time grasping that map idea since the first round would kill off parts of your team if everyone is Hardcore.
And then for the coming rounds, you assume that everyone of each team will survive and continue, this isn't the real case of pvp. If a 4v4 team battles, there might just be 1 or 2 players standing in the end, making hardcore impossible.

My tip would be to switch to softcore and add locked spawnpoints so that you don't die for good, but you're locked out of the arena.

@Sir Profiterole VII, that idea needs a bit of thinking in terms of 2D gameplay, How would you make it fair for all teams and how would you place the bases? Keep thinking and figure out the small issues ^_^.

I also have been working on a gamemode and I want to see what you think.

It's kind of like elimination but different xD. Its called grapple wars. There are 4 teams of 4 and 3 arenas. The first round of battling will be with 2 people from each color team so......4 matches at once.When you are done, you go to next arena and rejoin with your full team so you could have 4,3,2, or 1 players for round 2. Again they battle, and if my mind doesnt decive me, there will be 2 rounds. After that, the winners face each other in the final arena. The team that survives is VICTORIUS. Each player has to be hardcore and will recieve a cloud in a balloon, a lucky horse shoe and a dual hook. All arenas will use the dual hook. The first arena is just random shapes of cobalt brick and the sides are spikes. The bottom is lava and besides that, they have to kill their enimies. The second arena is an bostacle course then a pvp area. And im not sure what the last one will be so im up for ideas.Any ideas on it

I have decided i will try to make a map and here is my idea:

So there are 4 teams each in opposite corners of the map green top left yellow top right blue bottom left red bottom right. In the green base there will be a switch which opens a door to a warp in the red base( the opposite base) and the same for all the other bases. This warp will take you to a seperate base with a mechanic in the middle. The Red base will have to go to the blue base and hit a lever which will allow them access to the middle where the mechanic is. The team must buy a lever off the mechanic and place it on the lever stand in their base which will break all of the other teams beds and take it in to a deathmatch. But how do they get the coins you ask, well across the map there will be chests with money in and a piggy bank in the team base for safe keeping.

All comments will be appreciated and btw ZaQen how do you make warp points.

P.S there will probably be classes

Oh and another thing, I never doubted mbran's map was good, i just didn't have a lot of time to play when he asked =P Right now i am exanding to find good /map/gamemode makers and let them use my group as an update platform. Posting screenshots and talking about a draft for a new gamemode =)

MasterScarab, I think you need thicker outlines on your idea. An admin would have to see exactly who's throwing down the vodoo doll, right? That might be a problem if it's an open area from where you throw it. I mean, 2 or 3 players could throw it in at the same time, making it a draw.
And when it comes to gathering materials, wouldn't just rushing to hell mean that you'd win? Stopping for minerals would just make you lose, right?


Either make it so that you HAVE to get materials to get forward of people will just rush through it =P

First off, mbran's maps are awesome! Bridge wars is arguably the best Terraria PvP idea, and I've played more games on his maps than I'd like to admit.

Second off, I'm working on a map of my own for a gamemode I tried earlier and then abandoned called Race to Hell, Summon the Wall, etc. Two teams have a prep period in which to gather materials, and then they return and dig to hell in a specially made mineshaft that allows for PvP. Once in hell, they must summon the Wall of Flesh, the team that does that wins. Special credit given to teams that succeed in defeating the Wall!

I have a couple of maps made already, if you are willing to try them out. One of which host all the time (called bridge wars if you've ever seen my posts in TerrarianPVP). I suggest you take a look at the basic gamemode and play a few games, as It may give you new ideas :)

Liam, Sorry but if the hamachi is already full I am currently testing it. I often clear out most connection after the balancing rounds. The hamachi network has 32 spots so it should almost never be an issue =P

Stark, The first and foremost reason WHAT-pvp has the map is because of their supposrt and help i got for even trying to balance this mode. Them being a team that host a few games a day will give the mode a great start and hopefully a nice life time =P

Not to tell too much but both PSIsyndicate and Odyssey games are interested in Kingdom Siege and have expressed their wish to host/play and make videos of it.
Right now there are no plans of giving the hosting privs to anyone else the WHAT-pvp but it might come in the future if they end up just going for their own maps.

The decision isn't final but I'm not gonna do anything rash right now. The mode is still new and fresh.
