According to Tom's Guide, Bethesda and ZeniMax Studios are poised to announce an Elder Scrolls MMO this May.

The report cites three separate sources, all unnamed, and claims that the game will be set in the Second Era, well before the other games in the Elder Scrolls timeline. One source also claims that there will be three playable factions, represented by "one of three animals: A lion, a dragon, and a bird of prey (either a phoenix or an eagle, we aren't sure)".

There's a lot of credibility to this story despite the unnamed sources. An Elder Scrolls MMO has been widely rumoured since shortly after Oblivion's release in 2006, and Bethesda and ZeniMax have been openly hiring staff for an MMO previously presumed to be part of the Fallout series.

If this information is accurate, we can expect to see the game at this year's E3. We've reached out to Bethesda for comment - more updates as we get them.

The official answer from our resident Deep Silver employees is that a demo is yet to be confirmed, and would not be until after release.

What are the four characters and their specialties?

Sam B - Tank Class - Lots of HP, good at taking aggro, specializes in blunt weapons
Xian Mei - Assassin Class - Fast-moving damage dealer, specializes in sharp weapons
Logan - Jack of all Trades - average ability in pretty much everything, has skills that apply to a bunch of different "disciplines"; thrown-weapon speciality
Purna - Leader - gun specialist; also has abilities that provide bonuses to party members



Will there be a split screen option?

No. Due to the detailed graphics engine and textures etc, handling two different player's experiences on the same machine would either call for highly simplifying the experience or putting a great strain on hardware.


Can two people be the same character?

Yes you can have all four co-op slots with the same character (4 purnas etc.)


Can you drive vehicles?

In short, yes. There are going to be a number of vehicles available on the island.


Can you swim?

No, but you can wade up to thigh level and it will be possible to drown zombies.



Is there a day and night cycle?

No, the weather/time of day changes depending on what part of the map you're in.

Will there be lobbies?

No lobbies. The game is going to be drop-in/ drop-out only. The advantages of this being a more fluid gaming experience, no waiting around for games to start and no getting kicked back to lobby because a player left



Will the game be in First Person or Third Person perspective?

First person.


I've heard the multi-layered damage thingy has been removed from the game, is that true?

"Hey guys - we did not remove the layered damage system, not at all. We did, however, scale it back a bit since in focus testing most people couldn't visually tell the difference between for example, a hit that penetrated 3 layers of skin vs. 5. So there is still a very robust layered damage system, it is just slightly altered from its original conception."


Can I take the xp numbers and zombie health off?

Yes it is toggable


Do the weapons have a color coding system or something? Like how do we know something is super rare or how something is very common?

Yep- they are color coded according to quality/rarity. Orange being legendary.



If your playing single player/online do all 4 characters still show in the cutscenes? Or does it just show who is playing in the game?

In single player and multiplayer all 4 characters show in the cutscenes no matter how many players are playing or what characters they choose (2 logans for example wont show in the cutscene)
