Hey Guys,

So its been a while since we have been active. As most of you know, at the last meeting/practice we had I told you guys that my idea was to join an established TF2 clan on my 2nd TF2 account to pick up some ideas for MOB.

Since all my real player stats are on my main account, I decided to use that one to hunt for a clan (since most people do look at stats), and I am using this one for MOB.

Please click on ADD FRIEND in the friends window and search for "80thrasher" that is my MOB account, please add it if you havent already.

You will also notice that the name on my main account is now "thrasher" thats the name I am going by, undercover if you will. Dont be alarmed if you see me with a clan tag on that account, my plan is to get experience in TF2 league play to bring back to mob, if we ever decide to get involved in the leagues.

I would like to know where everyone stands right now. Does everyone still want to compete, either in leagues, or just casual scrims once in a while? Are we just going to be doing this for fun and pub together? Im fine with whatever you guys want to do, its just good playing with all you guys again.

Let me know what you want to do with MOB in the future.

Server changes / news

So our current server has 20 days till it expires. I decided it would be best to let it expire. We are paying $20 for $20 slots. The most we will ever need is 16 slots, which we can get for $16. When this server expires in 20 days I will rent a new 16 slot server which will have to remain locked at all times (its cheaper for private servers), but you can give out the password to friends, no problem.

As of today 9/02/08, I have loned our current server to the Gather Network, which is the group that holds those pickup games. I am letting them use it today and tomorrow. So if you look for the server i will show up as a different name with a password right now. Thursday morning they will be done using it, and we will have it back for practice that night.

So to recap, the gather network is borrowing out server for 2 days. We will rent a cheaper 16 slot server in 20 days when the current server expires. We still need donations. let me know if you can help. Cappa has already sent in some cash, thanks bro!

Well i just noticed on myspace that its Cappa's birthday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN!

Im guessing since its his birthday we wont be practicing tonight. No big deal, but lets make sure we practice next week for sure, and any days when we all happen to be on.

We are going to go over general tactics for various classes, as well as map specific tactics on the most popular league maps (granary, gravelpit, badlands).

We are also going to do a bit of a hands on thing tongiht as well. My girlfriend Mal and I will be on D, everyone else on O... on 2fort, you guys need to cap on us a certain ammount of times, in a certain ammount of time. I ahvent decided on those numbers yet. The point of this is so you guys learn to attack as a team, and the value of protecting the medic.

Be on Cappa's vent server by 9pm, we will use our game server of course.

OK guys, so we had a scrim monday night and got our asses kicked. I wanted to point out a few things that we need to work on this thursday during practice.

1.) We didnt attack as a team very much, we tended to just trickle in 1 or 2 at a time, and we became easy targets.

2.) At one point we had 3 soldiers

3.) We didnt use scouts.

4.) We didnt have hardly any ubers.

5.) We didnt protect our medic very well.

Now granted there were only 3 official mob members playing in the game, and we havent had a really in depth practice yet, but those a still just a few things we really need to work on.

Now the 5 things i pointed out... here are the reasons why i pointed them out.

1.) 95% of the time it is worth it to wait in a particular area and get everyone together to attack as a solid unit. If you check your scoreboard (tab) and see 3 or more of the enemy team is dead, it is ok to push in for a cap without the whole team, or even by yourself... but that is the only time. Attack as a group or it is a waste.

2.) We need to pay attention to who is playing what class in scrims and league play. There are class limitations, 1 medic, 1 demo, 2 of all other classes per team. Having a 3rd soldier, even for a few seconds could disqualify us in a league match.

3.) Scouts capture points twice as fast as any other class, and because they are so fast and hard to hit they are LETHAL in organized play... we need some scouts on every map, in every game.

4.) You can help a medic build an ubercharge faster by damaging yourself while he is healing you. Soldiers can run into the ammo/health box in the respawn with a medic healing them and shoot rockets at the health box to damage themselves. This will build the ubercharge faster, then the whole team can push with an uber ready to use. If there is no ammo/health box near by Soldiers should rocket jump, and demos should pipe jump everywhere, not only so they can get places faster, but so the medic can heal them and build an uber faster.

5.) A tough class (soldier, heavy, even demo) should try to stay with a medic AT ALL TIMES to protect him. Dont get greedy and run away from the medic. If he is healing you step INTO enemy rockets to help protect the medic, and this will also help the uber build faster.

On thursdays practice I want to run an O vs D practice on 2fort. I want the D to consist of myself, and my girlfriend mal... everyone else on O. I think it will be a good way to get used to attacking as a group, and a good demonstration about protectinf the medic.

Please keep in mind im not trying to put anyone down, I would just like to see us do better next time we play someone.

i was trying to schedule a reminder to show up on thursday @ 8:45 as a reminder for thursdays practice at 9pm, but it kept popping up right now, if you saw those pop ups there is no practice at 2:15pm on monday, lol... i didnt know it would do that, my bad.

Hopefully we can practice later tonight tho.

Well guys Thursdays are our practice night, but I have the day off today, so if anyone is around and wants to get a practice going im down.

My girlfriend said she will play with us if we need an extra person, so hopefully we will be able to get 6 people tonight and go over some map tactics and hopefully scrim.

I dont know what time is best for everyone else, but any time works for me.
