I still miss this website along with the people that browsed it. I'll never forget the Lolbrary.

The community may have fallen but there are people who still maintain the friendships the community created so in that respect it will never truly die

Yes, the most interesting thing is that so many people start to write stuff whom I never heard from and who have just lurked the site. Makes it all bigger for me :)

Who would have thought that the takeover would have brought us all together in such diverse ways.

No one here will recognize me but I wanted to briefly say my piece. I found lolbrary through funnyjunk a while ago. I switched to lolbrary and never looked back. I never was a contributor for lolbrary's content, but that site became a part of my daily internet regimen. I would have happily donated a few bucks to help keep it alive. I am sad to see it become that thing it is now.

I used to be part of a site that was kept above water completely by donations. It can very easily work with enough people. 15 bucks of my paycheck a month goes to refugees, so 5 or 10 more a month going to internet refugees wouldn't be outlandish.

I think a big part of the growth in financial strain came from hosting so many images and the increased traffic brought in over the years. Bandwidth and storage space costs quite a bit when you hit a moderate level of active users providing content.

On that note, I agree with R0T. I suspect a simple "Donate!" button, perhaps with a monthly incentive and progress bar, would have been sufficient. It sure as ♥♥♥♥ would have brought less of an uproar.

Oh man that's just sad :/
But it's really strange that he didn't ask us for help. I mean, if we now have the possibility to get domains for free it sure wouldn't have been a problem to move the whole site there in the first place, right? (I have no clue about website-hosting so forgive me, if I'm wrong)

PS: I will go to register at our "new" site soon, but I have to do stuff until tomorrow first. But I won't be of great help anyways, I guess.

bill couldnt afford to keep paying for lolbrary so he had to sell it, im just annoyed he gave up so easy and didnt ask us for help first
