Over probably the rest of today I will finish uploading custom maps to the server. I will then need to tweak things with RTV and map voting to make sure I've got it all configured properly. But there are currently custom maps on the server to play on!

Alright, installed some mods and changed some settings.

These would be

Banned the Phlogistinator, Enforcer and Pomson. Reasons being is the phlogistinator is just a lack of skill weapon and the reduced damage by 90% when taunting for crits is just really stupid. The enforcer is banned because combine it with a dead ringer you have a seriously OP weapon with no drawbacks. Pomson is just annoying as hell. :)

A different map chooser, allows extend map and has a bunch of customizeable options that I will learn, perhaps.

Goomba stomp. If it comes to be a problem however, it will get removed so only time will tell.

Re-installed the losing teams MVP panel at the end of matches. Tested and it was working so hopefully that doesn't break itself. Again.

Removed random crits and damage spread.


To do list:

Install custom maps onto the server and include them in the maplist. (Probably get fast download)

Include a sudden death round and when waiting for players team killing round?

Will edit if anybody else have any decent mod suggestions.


Also for admins, when the server restarts, it resets the banned weapons but to fix it just open up the admin menu ingame. You'll just need to enable all of the weapons except phlogistinator, enforcer and the pomson. :)

Right, the server's been empty more often than not since start up. It does have quick play enabled but it needs at least 3 people but probably 6 people to "jump start" it or nothing happens. It stays empty.

Now, in my opinion quick play is a bit of an arse anyway. It means we have to allow random crits, keep the long-ass valve spawntime and limits the mods we can use. It also stops us using great custom maps like Croissant, Obscure and Snakewater (there are others but too lazy to list everything).

So, a couple ideas that I have...

Get a bunch of us every day to "jump start" the server so quick play draws in players.

Pros - Maintains probably the highest chance of having a busy server, new faces to play every day.

Cons - Random crits, long spawntimes, no custom maps, limited amount of mods, time consuming to jump start it, don't play with as skilled players and may steam roll with all of us.

Another idea is to disable quickplay.

Pros - Custom maps, more mods, no random crits, no other useless stuff quick play makes us use. Changeable at any time for our liking, e.g to use a Dodgeball mod (fun gamemodes), tournament setup (if we ever got a team setup).

Cons - Server may still be empty with this unless we had a good way of driving traffic (maybe help from Reddit as we could possibly get put on thier list without being listed as a reddit server) No fast-download at the moment so you should either download the maps yourself or wait for the really slow download speed that Valve has. (We would put out a maplist)

Finally I think we could just have a fun gamemodes server, so stuff like Dodgeball, Saxtonhale and tons more that I don't know the name of.

Pros - May be easier to drive traffic to this as there isn't 5000000000 servers doing exactly the same thing, more like 50 and they aren't all online.

Cons - No fast download, it would be difficult to get people to download all the maps, unless we hosted the download somewhere which could be a possibility.


And finally, my last point for the server. There is a "clanpay" option in which you can donate funds to the server and they will ONLY be spent on the server. You reap no rewards for this apart from that lovely warm fuzzy feeling deep down that you helped out. :) We will add the link to the main group bio. (Currently being funded by Saga on her own but that's why we all love her, right?)

I am sorry about the lengthy post but I would appreciate any feedback/other ideas for the server. I don't want to have a couple people deciding what happens.
