The Orange Block(title obviously inspired by the collection of the same name) is itself a collection of mods and enhancements for an old beta of an old sandbox game called "Blockland". Now, this has nothing to do with the newer, full retail version of blockland. That's a decent game in its own right, but in addition to costing $20, it branched far away from the lego theme of the beta and has had its extensibility narrowed in order to combat piracy and hacking. The Orange Block is a free standalone download with the old blockland beta at it's core, and a ton of content and features layered on top of it. It's not as pretty as the retail Blockland, and its nowhere near as stable, but I feel it makes up for this in a lot of ways through its unhindered extensibility. Almost any script can be modified, and the building system allows for building methods and scales not possible in the new Blockland.

So if you're looking for a unique sandbox experience, or if you played the original blockland and hated the new one, take a look. Its free, so what have you got to lose?
