Wow, that day or so ended up being a year huh? So...it look like several have moved on to L4D2, is there any point in me installing L4D1?

I am installing a new HDD so I will be out for a day or so.

I also have a Ventrilo server that we've been using for awhile. For those that would like to use it instead of in-game voice chat, here's the info (you can still use both if you make the in-game push to talk).

Due to the way the L4D matchmaking works, I've been having trouble finding good servers with low ping. I decided to rent a L4D server. In order to play on it, the party leader has to do the following steps below. If you are not the party leader, or if you're invited to the game, or if you join thru the buddy list, you do not have to do these extra steps.


You start up L4D.
Go to console, enter sv_search_key nuglerl4d
Select Play Campaign or Play Versus
Select Play with Friends (if you're trying to get all your friends into the lobby first before adding more people)
Create Lobby
Select type (Campaign or Versus)
Set options, Create Lobby
Have your friends join
select Permissions, set to Public Game
Wait for others to join, usually this goes fast, sometimes it takes a few minutes.
Once it's full, hit start game.

To avoid having to enter sv_search_key nuglerl4d EVERY time you start the game, do the following:

Go to your Steam Game list (My Games tab).
Right click on Left4Dead.
Select Properties.
Click "Set Launch Options..."
Add the following line:
+sv_search_key "nuglerl4d"
