1. Delete the appcache folder from your steam directory
2. Delete the appcache folder from your recycle bin
3. Restart your computer
4. Launch steam
This works for me every time 100% when my steam does that
If you have legit windows, reinstall it with the same windows.
if you have a cracked one try reinstalling with a different windows (could be the same windows just another version or language)
FULLY WORKING
MUST OF BEEN MALWARE!
steam network stops working first day of holiday,
2 weeks passed no reply from steam support,
♥♥♥♥ steam.
go to your task manager and stop all the steam stuff from working, they'll run again in the future but won't effect gameplay
and steam worked good for me as there was no problem. so if anyone of you have another available windows on the pc you can use for steam.
It downloaded latest update on start as it always does and HEY WHERE'D YOUR INTERNET GO?
Well, let's wait some more, maybe someone will finally find a solution.
Completely reinstalling Windows just because Steam decided to update is absurd.
you are probably new to the group and you probably dont have the issue we have here.
you probably think we are stupid for not trying it for the last 2 weeks this issue has been so popular. we tried everything, this solution and much more. the only solution that was found is to reinstall windows or download another one on a different disk or steam will find a solution and will fix it
I still occasionally get a login problem, even on my second windows dedicated to steam (see my previous posts), but usually it allows me to login after a few tries. On my original windows it still wont work. No reply from support still, pathetic. Maybe its time to start suing valve :D
I can't play games since January!
Anyway I decided to try the windows re-install option today, and it worked :D
What I did was install windows onto my D: drive, and left my original windows on my C: drive (I could'nt face re-installing all my programmes on C: drive). I now get the option to select which windows I want to start when I boot the PC. So my original windows stays at it was, and my second windows is now dedicated to steam lol. At least I can play my games again, but I will keep pestering support and lookout for a fix to the original issue. Perhaps the next steam update will fix it.
For now I guess I will need to live with starting up the secondary windows for steam.
Will let you guys know if I hear anything better from steam support or some other fix comes up, but I suspect we will have to wait for the next steam release, and if that doesnt work, go the windows route
Delete all filles except steam.exe...
Something I've done several times...
