Pleased to report that we had a lot of new people playing on the server tonight. Seems like there still is an audience for idle_mudkip_haus in 2019.

Yeah, I was shocked about how many secrets I forgot. I used to lead tours around the map after all! :P Brought back a lot of memories though.

I just took a look at v6. Still a cool map. I've forgotten how to get to some of the secret areas though. And for better or for worse the hidden kill switch no longer seems to crash the game.

I have a working .bsp of v6. The "v7" you were thinking of was the night-time version I think. It had a couple of newer features on it too. No idea what happened to that one sadly. It was a really good improvement from v6. That KOTH version of the map was interesting too, but I think it had a lot of bugs or something. No idea where that one went.

I've taken a look through my files and I have .vmf files for v5 and v6 of the map. I also have the .vmx for v6 (no idea anymore what the .vmx is). I cannot recall if v6 was the last version that we had been testing or if a v7 at one time existed. I seem to remember a v7 existing, but cannot find any record of it.

The .vmf for v6 has been added to the download link in the group description. Anyone who wanted to play this version would need to install Hammer and compile it. If anyone has a more up to date version or has a compiled version of v6 please let me know; I would love to update the link and make it available to whomever wants it.

So, I used to have the older versions, no idea what happened to them sadly. But I do have a copy of the...I think second-to-last version? I tested it in single player on TF2 through the console. I forgot how difficult it was to navigate the map without jetpack and noclip! :P

It seems to work though, only saw one error texture and some minor bugs, but it loaded fine and brought back a lot of memories.

Still miss this group. We should make a Discord Server and have a reunion someday. (I used to be called MudkipsCuzin. Used to pay for and run the 12-slot version of the server.) I may still have the map files for the old G4M map btw. I'd have to dig for them in an old hard drive though.

One of many problems.

The problem with G4M was that there was this division among the community between admin and not admin.

Every admin was rubbing their powers in on the limited members

There are three reasons why I haven't made any attempt to start/coordinate a new group.

1) I don't want to fund a new server and I don't know that anyone else wants to.

2) I don't know that there is enough interest in remaking G4M to even make a new group viable. There's a reason that G4M shut down in the first place.

3) Even if someone wanted to fund a server and there was a huge demand in trying to get the group running again I don't have any desire to participate in it. I regard G4M as having been a one of a kind group. I don't think it could ever be recreated and I don't want to try.

It's like I said in the group description: "This is a memorial group set up to commemorate the once glorious, irreverant, infamous, and now defunct steam group known as Gamers For Mudkip. This group serves no purpose other than this. We will not be hosting servers, trolling G4C, or performing any other G4M related activities."
