Slide over, Sydney, a new PAYDAY Waifu is in town! Make room for Ethan! That's right. today the h3h3 Character Pack came out! For $4.99, you can play as either Ethan or Hila Klien as you rob through banks or sneak into military weapon caches! Along with the characters, we have a new Perk Deck called Tag Team, a weapon called the Air Bow, and a melee giant ruler!

I know many people are pretty upset at the DLC having a cost despite OVERKILL saying all future DLC is free, but they did note this exception from the beginning. Besides, all proceeds go directly to Ethan and Hila themselves.

Good news for console players! 3 "new" heists have been added to the Crimewave Edition of PAYDAY 2 (Scarface Mansion, Brooklyn 10-10, and Yacht Heist). Snagres and Scarface are also finally on console as well, so enjoy! They're bringing some of our favorite weapons with them!

The time has come for the annual PAYDAY 2 Halloween Event! This is my first Halloween event, so I don't have much to compare to, but I'll do my best!

For the next 2 weeks, there is a limited time temporary Job available called Cursed Kill Room. I haven't played it yet myself, but it sounds like it's similar to dungeon crawling games where you have a limited amount of time to secure as much loot as possible. Attacking enemies gratns you more time, and you secure loot by opening safes similar to the ones on Santa's Workshop and Lab Rats. Sounds fun!

Up next, we have 7 new spooky masks. Each of the masks represents one of the famouse 7 deadly sins. They all look pretty cool! Pride kind of confuses me, though. Maybe I'm missing an allusion? These masks are unlocked by opening safes, presumably in Cursed Kill Room.

Finally, aside from a few updates, the Safehouse Nightmare returns, allowing us to hang around the old safehouse! Boy do I miss it. There are 8 masks you can get exclusively from Safehouse Nightmare, 4 from difficulty and 4 from the PAYDAY.

The custom mods from the Locke and Load event will remain unlockable via the riddles for a short while longer, but after that, only through continental coin purchases. Update 164 also gave us a few minor bug fixes.

Day 10 has finally arrived, how sad! It's been a fun event, and I hope you've all had a good time. I would take the time to reflect over everything that's come so far, but I'm so sick of writing (I guess it doesn't help that I had essays to work on while this event was going on...).

Today, our story concludes with the gang after Diamond Heist. I guess canonically they performed it loud, judging by Wolf's statement. The last thing we learn aside from their success is who I assume is Bain, telling the gang he's found something on Locke. And then. つづく(To Be Continued). Just like with events in the past, the plot is left unconcluded. I joked about this with some friends earlier, but something tells me Crimefest 2018 is just gonna be plot resolution week.

I know another cliffhanger probably upsets most people, but I want to give OVERKILL some credit. It can't have been an easy week for them, and it hasn't been too long since the Aldstone Heritage event, not to mention working on RAID just before that.

Todays feature is an AMA from the team, namely Almir, Symn, and Jules. Some of their replies are a few hours old by now, but others kinda recent, so I have no idea if they're still replying or not. Go and check out what they've told us so far! As before, the Day 10 AMA is on reddit.

So this is it, nearly the last day of Crimefest 2017, Locke and Load. Today we got a "new" job and see tomorrow's riddle reward. They also finally changed up the music on the event site.

The "new" contract added today is Diamond Heist from PAYDAY: The Heist. While I was certainly glad to see Diamond Heist coming to PAYDAY 2, I really hoped it wouldn't be the Day 9 job. Allow to explain the integration before tossing in my own biases. By now, the PAYDAY Gang has safely made their way back to the Safehouse, but nobody has any clue where Locke has gone. It's not clear who Dallas is speaking to between The Butcher and Bain, but one of them has been performing research on Locke's whereabouts and is coming up with nothing. Squat. As much information as there is use in the Biker Perk Deck.

The person on the line tasks the crew with a hit on the Garner Group. Aparently, Locke has strong ties with them, and the plan is to draw him out via financial distress. Frankly, I'm not fond of this lazy integration. I'm worried that the story arc won't be resolved. I mean, unless Locke pops up at the end of the heist (I have yet to play it, my impressions will be added in spoiler tags), we have a day left to reach climax, resolve, and conclude.

The Diamond Heist Trailer is the only thing apart from the comic on Day 9's page, but we have two other little treats. One is fairly basic, just the next riddle and it's reward. Riddle 5: Silence unlocks the Custom Reinforced Frame for The Judge. Then, a little something I found partially by accident, there is a secret on the Day 9 comic. Clicking on the tan object in the background directs you to a link supposedly with steam key unlock(e)s for the event (.com/lockekeys). As of now, the link is broken for me, or rather OVERKILL's server is failing to deliver my packets. This may just be because they don't want people to have it yet, or they made a mistake in setting it up.

If I were to sum up Diamond Heist in one word, it would be annoying. *

* The fastest way I could describe it would be "Golden Grin Casino,
but worse." Keep in mind that I did this solo stealth on Mayhem, by the way.
The heist has 4 main components: boxes, laptops, keycard, and loot.
First, you need to find 2 randomly spawned router boxes to disable the security system. Ish. I'll explain that soon. After that, there are 3 laptops with color coded digits on them. In my opinion, the map is way too big for these objectives. It's frustrating how long it takes to find all 5 of these, especially while dodging around the excess number of guards. On top of that, each router takes 150 seconds to hack. That's absurd. Next, there is a civ in a white suit with a keycard that you need to enter the vault code. I will that I enjoy the prospect of being able to toss bodies off of the roof and have nothing happen. Finally, getting into the vault and moving loot. Depending on where your spawn was, this will be simple or arduous. My route was fairly long, but by the 4th of the 8 availalbe and required bags, I knew the guard patterns well enough to essentially full sprint each bag. Speaking of the bags, despite disabling the security system already, we can't break the glass. Sure, makes sense to me. Don't take a page from Diamond Store or The Diamond with disableable case alarms (I just noticed the diamond theme, lol).

I mentioned that Diamond Heist is annoying. I have a few reasons to feel this way. As I mentioned before, the map is quite large. There are multiple really long hallways and open walled stories, and this makes it easy to exponentiate errors. In my first attempt, I killed a guard not near any cams or other guards.
While answering his pager, the civilians upstairs saw him through the smallest gap in the staircase. Close the blinds or something, that's rediculous.
Second try, I killed a guard that I thought was in a corner, but instead another enemy saw him across the map. As I said above, the size of the map with the random aspect makes doing objectives difficult. Really, though, finding the routers and laptops is easy. Before the timer reaches 1 minute both routers will be marked for you, and over time each laptop will be pointed out as well.
It's not like the game just highlights them, though, Bain helps us find them.
Until you have every bag of jewels in the vault bagged, Bain doesn't shut up.
He says the same thing way too many times, and it is really irritating.

Honestly, just by adding more stealth assets aside from the ONE that we have, body bags, would make the heist much better. Preplanning would be great, and I found myself noticing how many ways preplanning could work really well. I don't know if it was my seed or what, but cameras were never a problem for me. I never had to use any equipment, I was only caught twice (once by suit man, whom I had to kill anyway, and the second time by a guard in a stairwell, where I didn't expect him to be. Totally avoidable), and I looted everything aside from I'm guessing 3 or 4 loose gems. Diamond Heist pulls off the amazing feat of somehow being both too easy and too hard.
