This is long overdue but with much delight and slight arousal I announce that that we have been blessed with an (Unofficial) GPDZ Server thanks to paddyp! Because he's a total babe (and ARMA2 servers are more expensive to run then habit riddled whores) you should give him money:

Anyone is welcome to play but you are required to follow these totally obvious and/or reasonable rules:

While you are playing you required to be connected to Mumble.
No disconnecting to avoid death from players or zombies.
No hacking or use of 3rd party scripts, these include spawning items in,map hacks, god mode and teleporting.
No intentional exploiting such as (but not limited to):
- Replenishing ammo (either by logging or type changing).
- Backpack Duping.
- Logging to drop zed aggro.
- Using hacked in weapons.
- Duping of any sort.
- Any duped items (accidental or otherwise) are to be sunk.

The current all knowing, all powerful admin is "paddyp" but a couple more are going through the selection process. These people don't know who they are so everyone be on your best behavior.

Q. Do you have a VOIP server?
Yes we do! We have a mumble server up running on the same IP as the DayZ server.

How To: Play Beta patches via Steam

Here's a 'How To' taken from the steam forums so others can see when you're playing Day Z:

When you install the beta patches you have to start the game using the beta shortcut/exe instead of the normal game exe, so it doesn't trigger the Steam overlay or keep track of your play time. You can add the shortcut to your Steam library as a non-Steam game to get the overlay back but Steam still won't keep track of your play time. So here is how you fix that.

After you install the most recent beta patch you get a "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut in the main Arma 2 OA folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead" which has all the info we need when you check its launch options in Properties. Currently it points to a beta exe at "\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" with the launch parameters of "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion"

So do the following:

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\
2. Rename ArmA2OA.exe or move it to a backup folder.
3. Locate the beta ArmA2OA.exe in the \Expansion\beta folder, copy and paste it to the main folder where the original exe was.
4. Open your Steam library, right click on ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead, and click Properties.
5. Click Launch Options and add "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" without the quotes
6. Add any additional launch options you want such as -nosplash, -world=empty, -mod=@dayz
7. Launch ARMA 2: OA as normal from Steam and enjoy.

Any time you install a new updated beta just update the ArmA2OA.exe and check the beta shortcut to see if there are any additional launch options needed.
