Hi everyone

After a rather extended break (about a year *cough*), the Element 83 gaming group is beginning to get going again!

We are looking to take on some multi-player games as an unstoppable* team and are hoping to meet up with some of our old gaming buddies for some laughs!

We aren't running any servers now, so we are looking for other hosts servers to game in.

Mosquto has stepped down as co-owner, so it's like it's back to mid 2015 with just Dusk and I running things again!

ARMA 3 Epoch "Tanoa" server coming

Hi everyone

As some of you many know, the Exile server has been down since the 1.0 update came out. Unfortunately one of the mods updated (and we didn't realise straight away) so that delayed being able to connect to it.

In the meantime we have been having a chat amongst ourselves (Moon, Dusk, Mosquto) and put a thread on the forum with a vote option for which mod/map we should be looking at next if we changed things up, you may have seen it.

The results were quite surprising, with a clear lead for Epoch and a fairly even split between Altis and Tanoa map.

There were some really good points made against going back to Epoch (lack of mod support, still in the early stages, zombies/sappers etc., not the game style everyone wants).

We've taken those things into consideration and have also thought, what do we (Moon, Dusk, Mosquto) want to play on? We've realised that while Exile has been stable for a good while now, it's not really interested any of us so we haven't played it, we've just been servicing a server and paying all the associated expenses for other peoples fun. And not many peoples fun at that, the server numbers have been dropping slowly again. We've had a peak of 10 players and apart from that it's been less than that for months. We really appreciate our core player base who have stuck with us for a long time (you guys know who you are!), but it's not sustainable the way it's going.

So...what are we going to do?

Well, all three of us want to play again. So we're going with Tanoa. It's an interesting new map to explore, we've not really looked at it yet except in streams and screenshots so it's something exciting and new to work through.

We're also going back to Epoch. They have just released a new version 0.3.9, they are now open source which means more people can work on the project and some really interesting new things have been released in this latest version.

Here's some of the differences between Epoch and Exile for those that have forgotten:

Traders all over the map, not just in three cities with a player driven economy - you can buy what is sold at the trader.
A trader city will come soon with a new update
There are lots more missions from traders to earn money etc.
Supernatural elements - cultists, sappers, invisible Predator type enemies and the drones summoning kill squads.
A new feature is when you are killed, you can detonate your body or respawn as a sapper! Should be a bit of a laugh.

Zombies

We are also going to put the zombie mod back in, it's far improved since the disaster of last September with the Esseker map so that should be good fun.

The Streamers Server

We have a few brilliant streamers who we know that are interested in trying another zombie related survival game so we will be inviting them along. They may bring their friends / viewers with them which could lead to a fairly populated server quite quickly. And of course, we will also be streaming from Tanoa!

Hunt / team up with the owners

This time, we're not as interested in the numbers of players in the game. Epoch can give an interesting experience without other players, so this time it's for us to play, and you are all invited to join us, we'd love to have you! You should find us in the server quite often.

We know it's not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, so apologies if anyone is disappointed.

Lets hope Epoch 0.3.9 can deliver some excitement and adventures in Tanoa!

JULY 16 - opinions on the direction the ARMA server should take

Greetings Armaholics!

I'm wanting to get a bit of feedback from you…

Exile has just released the 1.0 update, so they are effectively 'gold' now as they have previously stated that once they reach 1.0 they won't be releasing new features (that may have changed though).

So, we can now…

Update the Altis map to Exile 1.0

Scrap the Altis map and move over to Tanoa with Exile 1.0

Or...for a bit of a change…

Epoch have released a new version, 0.3.9, they are working on the project again!
With Epoch we can have:
CUP mods as we do with Exile
Ryans Zombies and Demons Mod – it's compatible
Have the sappers, cultists and other assorted nasties that the Epoch mod throws at us.
If you remember, Epoch also has traders dotted around the map for buying and selling with a proper market economy and they are going to be introducing a new trader city as well.
We CAN'T have all the AI patrols and missions we currently do because the mod makers have moved over to Exile.

However Epoch on a jungle island filled with zombies might be an interesting change of pace! Or of course, Altis again.

Server update – new Exile version!

Hi everyone

Just to let you know the Element83 server is now running the latest Exile, version 0.9.8 codename “Kiwi”.

There has been huge changes to Exile in this version including:
Currency is now physical, you will drop a bag of money when you die so store it carefully!
Concrete is now a building material so you can make stronger bases
Radiation is now an environmental threat!

We have a couple of changes of our own as well…

There are now AI helicopters in game, they WON'T fire at you, but they do add an additional source of tension...is it an AI chopper flying or is it another player...who knows?

All the CUP mods are still present (weapons, vehicles and uniforms), however uniforms is still bugged (you can pick the clothing up), so at the moment that has been disabled, however you STILL NEED CUP uniforms to connect to the server!

The server has been completely wiped so everyone is starting fresh. This has been recommended by the Exile devs, they said “...we strongly recommend to start all over, as we have literally touched everything. This update had changes to more than 1.800 files in our internal project.

As usual, if you find any problems, don't tell us on sidechat, we may miss it. Please report any problems in the forum – element83gaming.com/forum then they can be addressed one by one.

New Exile version - please update Exile

Don't get too excited guys, it ISN'T 0.9.7!

This update is 0.9.6.1, I know, it just rolls off the tongue doesn't it!

This version of Exile is a hotfix to make it compatible with the new ARMA 1.6.
Please download and upate and then you can connect the the server again.

Attention Exilers!

The server is down while we wait for the new server files to be released from ARMA.

When it's back up, the server will be running ARMA 1.6 which means, among other updates, shiny new graphics! Some of you may have seen the screenshots, or played on the test servers, it looks amazing!

ARMA Exile server up and running!

Hi everyone

New Server!

You may be interested to hear that we are now running a fully operational Death Sta...no, hang on, wrong group...we're running a new Exile server!

Yes, Element 83 (formally Altis Tales) is back running ARMA Exile on the latest 0.9.6 version (and we'll be upgrading to 0.9.7 when it's released).

We've had so many requests from members (thank you to everyone that has expressed an interest!) that we had to put a server back up.

The server has been live for a few days in testing and should now give everyone a great experience.

Incredibly, before we've even officially announced the server, we are in the top 46% of worldwide ARMA servers! I'm hoping that trend will carry on to make a really busy fun server for everyone to have a laugh and wage war in!

NEW SERVER INFO!

Hi everyone

We have some exciting new server news for you...we are putting up another Exile server!

Exile and the mod scene surrounding it is now much more stable than it was when we first started hosting and the time seems right to revisit it, especially as so many of you have requested that we host another server!

Will I need mods?

The server WILL be modded with client side mods, and all the mods will be available from the Steam Workshop, no messing about with individual downloads, it'll all be very easy to do!

Mosquto will create a new collection on the Steam workshop, just download / subscribe to that collection and you'll have everything you need to connect to the server.

When is the server going live?

All being well, he will be working on the server on Friday and Saturday with a view to launching sometime this weekend.

Server features:

AI missions (naturally)
Zeus enabled so we can create unique missions, in game, on the fly for lone wolves or groups to attempt!
All other mods such as any weapon mods will be announced closer to launch time.

What about the Epoch server?

Well...we gave it a good run and we prefer the trading mechanics with the traders etc., but unfortunately there has been no progress on making the Epoch servers easier to install and maintain. Bohemia Interactive have been talking about new updates coming soon for ARMA so we are going to take the Epoch server offline on Friday before an ARMA update breaks the code anyway.
