A cold frosty day
Nobody could tell what could come that day
On the radio they said the heroes would come
My mother said no, it is too good to be true

That day we saw soldiers they were on the hill
The russians retreated right under our sill
We saw them leave and we cheered with our might

The heroes arrived right onto our square
Our flag was covered with dust and debri
But we wiped it off and hung it free
It flew through the air like the eagle itself

King Vovannslav a hero we called him
He led our people through dangerous times
But what did he get? A few bullets at most
My mother said no, it is too good to be true

That day I found out that my mother was right
The russians were leaving but then they came back
They raped our women with all of their might
My mother was killed and my father maimed
For why have we gotten this ill deserved fate?
