Anyway, anyone interested in a real life LAN party this Saturday? KDR is hosting and there is much fun to.be had for the taking.
Games on the choppin' block:
- Blacklight (f2p FPS)
- TF2
- (recommend your own! - I'll have my usual stock o games)
Streaming Amnesia now!
Feel free to pop in and say hello - and laugh at my expense!
Who has my harddrive o__o
We may have events (SC2, LoL, TF2, etc.) so keep posted here and on the fb group! :D
Greetings, fellow gaming enthusiast!
I write to inform you that the Cornell Computer Reuse Association will be holding a LAN party this Friday (10/14) in Stimson G25 from 9pm to 2am. At said establishment, we will be engaging in electronic stimuli such as: Starcraft, Warcraft3/DOTA, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Rock Band, a XBox Kinect, and many more! To enter the celebrations, a one-time entry fee of $5 per person or $20 per group of five shall be requested at the time of your arrival. But worry not! Your hand-earned wages will not be in vain! We will use the aforementioned coinage to facilitate the donation of computers and computer accessories to help flood relief in various schools around the area! Thus, I urge you to join us as we revel in merriment and forget the pains of prelim season.
Sincerely,
Jason Wang
President, Cornell Computer Reuse Association
PS: B.Y.O.H. (Bring your own headphones)
For instance, I'd really appreciate it if people posted their thoughts on certain games so I get a better feel for what was popular / what was not (since my opinion of how well a game is received is based on which team I was playing on).
I also am considering doing tournaments so we get a better idea of whose good at what (i.e. FPS and RTS) so we can balance teams better (and obviously cause a little competition is fun).
The last thing I thought might be cool is to do other stuff besides LAN as a group. Not really sure what, but I thought like a Nerf fight or a sledding day (obviously when its snowy) or something else might be nice.
It's sort of hard to gauge what people are thinking since everyone apparantly thinks I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mindreader. SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥' POST
unfortunately battlefront2 won't support LAN (unless one of you is very clever with hamachi or the like) >___>
Medieval Total War - Neil instinctively knew that he was at a distinct advantage when he started surrounding me on 3 sides (whereas I decided to walk straight in, thinking "what's going on")
yea i'll try to keep this updated as well as i keep the fb group updated
Sorry!
here are the past few updates:
I feel like GLaDOS - cuz I CANT STOP TESTIN'
Today's menu:
L4D - 2 versions neither work - will continue the hunt
COD1 - works excellent, sniper battles ftw
StarCraft - me and Neil are rubbish
WarCraft - DoTA? huh? wut? where?
Quake 3 - Quake Live better
tf2 is go
Stronghold Crusader Extreme - Rei and I had no idea what was going on. It was a weird RTS where the outcome seemed essentially random.
Team Fortress Classic - Symantec AntiVirus deemed it a Trojan, so that wouldn't work.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 - LAN doesn't work as Rei and I were unable to connect with one-another. Level rendering in this crack seems broken as the draw distance seemed to barely extend to about 10 feet in front of our skaters. Creating our custom skaters was fun at least.
Thanks guys

We can always get together via steam and play games like L4D and the like.
Personally I'd like to try one of the following 2.
Neptune's Pride: A larger "long term" space RTS. Simplified down to focus more on player interactions.

Die2Nite: A zombie survival "long term" RTS.

Let me know if you're interested.
BUT I could use some help. My list involves a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of games and it'd be nice to have some volunteers who're willing to try out some freeware and let me know whether they think it'd be fun to play as a group. PLEASE PM ME IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER (I'll send you 1-3 games for you to try out).
So an update on what I've played:
Liquid War 5 - a fun game where you basically control a blob (think of it as an army) and you fight against another blob, where the idea is to surround and absorb your opponents blob. Might be fun as like a 10 minute warm-up while we download some other game. 2-6 Players

Realm of the Mad God - a faster paced MMORPG (lvl capped at 20) that's a great timekiller.
http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/
Quake Live - FUN. If you don't know what Quake is or never have played (like I had), give it a shot. Heavy emphasis on aiming and strafing, it's tons of fun. Definitely LAN-able

I'm still in the process of picking a game we could play over the summer. I'll try to have that ready ASAP.

I think this might be pretty cool to try out - we could set up a informal tourney style of thing.
working on getting battlefront up n running
our numbers are kinda small for it too. LANs are weekly (Friday Nights 7-Saturday @ the Upson basement computer lab - i.e. engineering quad. If you know where Duffield is - walk inside - all the way to the back of the Atrium, thru the glass doors into upson, down the stairs, down the hall towards the vending machines - lab is across from machines) Bring Friends!
