Been almost a year. I can only describe what i have been doing as puttering about the house. But I am having fun.

Starting a new server in a few days, mostly PVE focused. Very little oversight, one public area. Will be a wild west server. Suggestions will be entertained.

Currently seeing if I can recompile the old server, importation of old grids and/or holdings will be generously considered.

Server is up and running. Trade system and all main areas still online. Torch has preserved most of the ancient grids in deep space. Feel free to come and take a look, check on your stuff and see if there are any major errors.

An East Coast server will be going live in the next week or so.

Server is up for the weekend for poking and testing, progress is being saved. Connection is iffy at times but tolerable. CHeck on your stuff if you want, everything is still backed up just in case.

Server is in hibernation, will be back online within a month or so as time and currency permits. We plan on hosting in Europe this time, it is their turn after all. I will keep in touch, text me or join teh discord if you're still intereted and/or have questions.

Latest patch has brought back and old lag issue. Random connections will lag out the server, rebooting can help fix this, but not always.
So it's your fault, but there's nothing you can do about it, which sucks. =/ Try f5 if the server is killing itself.

There is a 6 hour restart in place now. The server saves ONE minute before it restarts. So when you see the restart warning,(5 minute warning, one every minute thereafter) know that you will lose that last minute of time.

We will be going private again for a time after the server change on the 20th, make sure any friends playing with you are in the steam group, or invite them at some point.

I am running a test mirror of the server on another server to see if i can find any problems with mods or grids, I'll keep you updated.

Market mod is active, everyone gets 10 million credits, if your balance is not correct when you log in, tell me.

The rules are there for a reason. If the server is crashing becasue you refuse to follow them, you have no reason to scream and curse at me :

5.) Secure all grids with landing gear or with merge blocks.
DO NOT LOCK to voxels/planets/asteroids.

Additionally, as I have told many of you before, the sektan doors mod is slightly buggy, use them sparingly. If after i tell you that, you go ahead and literally carpet your base in them, and then yell at me cause your area is buggy (this just happened)......

In about three weeks I am going to move Dune to within 6-700km of earth, and add a new planet. I havent decided which planet to add, although i have some candidats I am looking at:

I am willing to entertain any suggestions, send me a PM if you want, so far we have one vote for the 2nd one, Priok.

All grids will be moved with the planet, phase shifted as it were to the new area so everything is the same including everything within a few 100km's of Dune. But I'm sure there will be some surprises, and I promise to deal with them on a case by case basis.

Earth and it's moon will remain unchanged and unmoved.
We MAY have a server reset of some sort, but all grids will be retained and imported over.

In an attempt to get a control on teh sim speed issues, I am dissassembling the public areas for the time being. They were rareyl used anymore, but were fixtures of the server, especially for me personally.

I am leaving a repository and projection site at each position so that I may recreate them in the future. One of the possibilities past the size of them (two are just over 8k blocks) is the age of the grids themselves. Hopefully rebuilding them may fix it, until they are needed most of them will be left out.

If you are going to explore the highway system, or want to do some random missions for Scruffy, they will be rebuilt for that.

I have removed mars and europa from server, no one used them and no one had active bases on them. Dune is the new open pvp zone, and it's icy moon.

The new planet is a warzone, be aware that there might be old war machines in a vast area. Old turrets and forward operating bases that are abandoned, but still active as the conflict moves around the surface.

Be aware of this if you move down to Dune, scout well before you land your colony ship anywhere.

Server is up and running. Might have to search for it again, "Comar" is fairly unique, and it will show up. There were 3 updates today, might be more tomorrow.

Secret containers are active! And falling from the sky like crazy, so far the ones on planets have dropped suit skins for me and a couple others.

Major update today, server might have a little downtime. There is a current bug affecting Dedicated Servers, it's been reported on Keens site by others as well. Server crashes on loading planets.

Everything is saved and backed up, so just sit tight until this is sorted out!

The patches are getting better. Gameplay has become tolerable in the past week. Turrets and projections/welders are functioning again.

Nanites and other mods still seem to be working except for a few random door models.

Many of you did not log in after the april 9th refresh to claim your stations and ships. They are on the server, unclaimed and unowned for now. Public areas are still working and whole, access is still as before. Have to get to them and build your own medbay somewhere convenient, but out of the public accessways.

The world file got too old and we need a fresh start. I am in the process of exporting all large grids from the server now for re-importation after I make a new world.

All grids and med bays will be offline for teh time being until you log in, contact me and I will port you so you can take control of your stuff. This is to make sure no one else logs in before you to take control.

All factions, chats and GPS coordinates will be erased, I am sorry. However your stuff is still there, just be patient and I'll get you to it.

The world will be the same as before, 3 planets, 3 moons, same asteroid seed, and everything in the same place.

The issue was nanites, or rather, the abuse of them. Let's review ::::

1.) Multiple projections for a single factory are not allowed.

2.) Build as you go, dont lay 5000 unbuilt blocks then turn it on, this is bad.

3.) Don't leave null stacks (~0 amounts) in your inventories for nanites to pull from.

4.) Turn it off, if you're logging off, it better be off within an hour (via timer).

5.) Uncheck all options not currently used, this includes medical.

The rule of server is "Be reasonable", nanitesa re a privelege, don't abuse them.

I will be removing mods from the list and by process of elimination hope to figure out which one it is by end of tomorrow. Takes about 15 minutes at least to test each time, and we had almost 60 mods. So will take some time. I am running a vanilla blank server and its not having any issues so I know its one of our mods.

The game file is preserved at the time when crashes started, and will revert to then once I find out which one it is.

But I need to go to bed, bear with me folks, I will continue testing when I awake tomorrow.

Server is crashing pretty quick, seems to happen on autosaves. Lots of mod errors in the log files.

I'm paring down some of the mods and seeing how the loading goes from there. It's crashing pretty regular though.

I'll keep you updated on progress as I continue testing.

Server is crashing randomly after today's patch. It happens when a block is being built I think. It could be one of Eikester's mods, like the death star retractable hangar doors. Or it could be nanites. I'm not 100% sure.

For now I'm reducing the save interval for backups to 10 minutes and willw atch it as best I can.

Please tell me what you were building/doing if and when the server crashes on you, thanks!

Inventory levels are going down to x5 in about a week. Adjust your turrets, cargoes, oxygen generators, refineries, arc furnaces etc. accordingly.

I am looking at a mod that keeps personal inventories at 4000L no matter what.

Removed public spawn points. You can build your own single block med bays if you want when you get to them.

Tools on respawn were removed.

Just had full voxel refresh, spaceport is open for business, highway along planets equator is mapped, scripts are on, my dogs are tired....

Server will be going public in a few days, so batten down the hatches and hide your stash. Will be public for at least a week, depending on how much maintenence has to be done.

New spaceport is also on server, version 4.0. Just inside the gravity well above the public landport. Been a fixture on server since it's inception three years ago.

Label all your stuff with your faction tag or name if you can. Can't refresh planets for a bit, so at some point might need to import everything into a new world.
