First Strike DLC Launches on Xbox 360!

The first downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops has just launched on Xbox LIVE!

If you're an Xbox LIVE gamer, then we sure hope you've taken the day off as today is the day that the Black Ops battlefield is freshened up!

Four new Multiplayer maps, a new Zombie level and four new achievements are now available! The First Strike Pack 1 has been released and it may take some time to appear for you.

There are a few ways in which you can find and download First Strike. If your account is over 18, you can download it on your region's official Xbox website so that it will automatically download once your console is switched on. To download it on your Xbox, visit the Games Marketplace tab on your Dashboard and then either search for Black Ops via titles A-Z, or click on Game Add-ons.

You can also insert your Black Ops disk, head to the main Multilplayer menu, click on Store and then download from the Map Pack section. Note that if you're on an Xbox LIVE application that uses your Internet connection, such as Sky Player, or you're simply playing multiplayer, the download will pause. So make sure that you're either playing Single Player games or taking a break when the Map Pack is downloading to ensure the quickest and smoothest download speed possible!

Double XP Announced

Double XP for Call of Duty: Black Ops is announced alongside some new First Strike details.

On his latest podcast, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson was joined by Treyarch Community Manager, Josh Olin and Game Director, David Vonderhaar.

In the 2 hour long podcast, Black Ops is discussed for a total of 25 minutes. And yes, there are some new details!

Josh shreds some new details on the Ascension Zombie level while David talks about the new multiplayer battlegrounds, as well as a popular request... Double XP!

This weekend the first Double XP event for Black Ops will take place! From the 4th-6th February, every platform will host the event, meaning that anyone anywhere will have the chance to rank up quickly! Now is the perfect time to make prestiging count...

Inside Xbox Ascension Zombie Video

It's been a long time coming but Treyarch have finally shared details on the previously-extremely-classified Zombie map, Ascension. In the 3 minutes and 40 seconds long video, Inside Xbox preview the new map while interviewing Treyarch Community Manager, Josh Olin via Video Kinect.

Inside Xbox First Strike Preview

Check out a new video preview of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops downloadable content, First Strike.

Those who have Xbox LIVE will have noticed that a new Inside Xbox video has appeared on the dashboard.

In the video they interview members of Treyarch by using the Xbox LIVE Video Kinect functionality! But if that isn't enough to grab your attention, it also shows off new gameplay footage of all the upcoming First Strike multiplayer maps.

Although Ascension isn't featured in the video, we're promised that some coverage of the new Zombie map will be arriving shortly.
