Anyone from the Bluebloods still play online, haven't done so since we all played on 360's
But hoping to get a SteamDeck and start playing some PC games.

Shonky. Needs work. Still has the old magic but too frustrating right now. This article accurately reflects my thoughts on it. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/20/impressions-dayz/

DAYZ standalone any good?

It is possible to set your own pc up as a TS server but no else will be able to use it when you are offline.

Teamspeak 3 is very good but you need find a server to use. There are free ones available but you will get randoms joining occasionally (you can mute them). Gaming communities often have their own TS servers. You can hire private servers for about £1 a month with a 10 person limit. Teamspeak can have different chat rooms for different games or however you want to organise it. It's very flexible and voice quality is very good.

Best way to chat in game online ? Me and Hacksaw tend just to use Skype as its crystal clear. Any other recommendations?

Mule & I have been hammering DayZ. It's really worth getting into, the tension is relentless. If you have been been dipping your toes but no sure - join us for some antics.

Well my first jaunt into DAYZ was a moderate success, after watching a few "tips" videos etc and following the current Eurogamer diaries I took my servival skills and set out.
Spawning right on the doorstep of a rather large town I proceded to crawl my way to finding a crossbow (highly use as its silent) a compass and some medics items and made it out the other side of town.
Here's where my first mistake came as I decided to abandon my slow n steady tactic for "leg it", unfortunately i drew the attention of a brain muncher whom had the legs of Usain Bolt and the appetite to match and it kept up with me all the way up a mountainous hill and into the forest. Here's where i decided "I aint being no ones lunch on the first day and tried my luck with the compound bow. Second bolt lucky he went down (and it was lucky as I only had two bolts) and I even manage to recover one bolt, bandage myself up, and was on my merry way.
I ended the day by checking my compass n headed North.
