Turns out the forum got hacked and they got access to a database containing info and encrypted passwords.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ word from Gabe Newell is that although this has happened, they are not sure how much of the secure database they got, and are pretty sure they haven't been able to crack the encoding, BUT if your forum password is the same as your account password it's probably a good idea to change it!
