As things go in Steam Groups, some features are pretty useless and go unnoticed. Even so I sometimes select a new "player of the week." There are actually many deserving! From members stepping up to post bundles, giveaway patrons such as Nigel, distinguished new members, and so on. Just want to say again how pleasing it is to have such vestiges of the old board

Sad now SPUF has died I will have to check individual game discussions for the threads about being banned for "not cheating"

So many years of useful data on bug fixes and gameplay, not to mention other historical information gone. Definitely a sad day in gaming history.

SPUF seems to have gone to the big server in the sky now.

I wasn't sure what it was doing. I should have left it for however long it took and see what I ended up with. Nevermind, it's too late now and if others have archived it that's good enough.

That's because what it does is a bit misleading. What it does is archive ALL of SPUF. Not just what you select. To archive everything I imagine it would take a day or so. I have some archived on one oh my hdd's. I think there is a team that is archiving. There were posts in the hl2-ep2 forum about it.

I did download that software and tried it. I let it run for over five hours but I had no idea if it was even working as it should or how long it might take. In the end I stopped it and gave up on the idea of archiving it.

There is software you can use like HTTrack Website Copier for example but with all the errors happening, it's nearly impossible. A page of a thread and a database error page for the second page of the thread. I'm wondering if they planned for the end of the day to close it maybe.

:) Thankfully my monitor is still intact.

I hope someone has archived all of it. I thought about doing it but I don't really know how. Valve really should have archived it and kept it up but as we all know they don't always do the right thing. The SPUF is still up but the errors are frequent. I thought it would have been taken down by now.

The database errors have made it a pain trying to use the forums. I tried to make some backups of a few threads and ended up with mmultiple errors in the backup. I was really hoping that Valve would allow it to stay as an archive. Glad you didn't punch the monitor though. I'd hate to see your "guess posting" with no monitor. lol

Yeah, it's better than nothing. SPUF was almost unusable on Saturday when I ran my last giveaway. By the time I had finished I felt like punching my monitor but luckily I resisted the temptation.

SPUF seemed easier to deal with. (Well, minus the database errors and such) Maybe I'm just too old. lol. Well, at least we still have this. Better than nothing though.

So do I. I'm glad they let it return for nearly three weeks but it's been tough posting there knowing it will be going away soon. I much prefer the format of the SPUF but we have this now and I suppose we have to make the best of it.

I will happily take the blame for everything ever. After doing so I will change my name to Cool Hand Luke and eat a lot of boiled eggs.

The downside would be less eyes from random people but in reality that number has probably dwindled alot since Steam started plugging this over SPUF. In every other aspect the group has the potential to be more useful...and if not we can all blame HerbFerg.

Nobody expects a Steam group to fill the functions of a vbulletin forum, but in spite of that it sure feels good to still be reading and discussing bundles with all of you that came along :)

Just 64 presently, but that includes many respected bundle fans and long time lurkers.
