Lt.d.R.. Nietzler 8 Nov, 2013 @ 8:37am
Has anyone played it recently??? Anything better?
ragequit 18 Sep, 2012 @ 4:44pm
While I'm writing this, there are 229 active players on the servers... Guess it won't take long to hear "the sounds of the crickets".
Bermbom 9 Jul, 2012 @ 3:19am
@Lemur His talk about halftracks explains he (TWI) totally abandoned that which what made RO1 a succes.. Ive given up hope on this.
Lemur 8 Jul, 2012 @ 9:18pm
I recorded RammJaeger after one of the scorched earth tournament matches a while ago. He talks about Classic mode, ommitting features, the ROLadder debacle, and the future of RO2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcXpWsC0_FU
ragequit 25 Jun, 2012 @ 6:04pm
I agree with you, guys. Classic mode is a little step in the right direction, but I still don't like how the community splits cause of 3 different ways to play Hos... We found new players after the free weekend trial, but it won't take too long till we have the same amount of players we had some months ago.
I don't know how long we can wait...Honestly, I quitted playing and still waiting for good news ( no need to disinstall ).
Conjoiner 19 Jun, 2012 @ 10:22am
All I have to say is that RO2 is a case study in what happens when you take a great game and then completely screw over your fan-base hoping to make some $$$ from the CoD community.

As for classic mode I completely agree with eagles -it's a step in the right direction but it just lacks that spark that RO1 had. I'll probably uninstall the game until the next big patch and see if that improves anything.
]nXs[eagles.rd 18 Jun, 2012 @ 5:27pm
I've *officially* given up on RO2. classic mode was fun for a while, but defense is way too damn easy, most of the maps are terrible, and it still doesn't have the "it" that ostfront had. I'll reinstall next summer and see how it plays
Rusty 4 Jun, 2012 @ 6:29pm
Brian - If they decide in the future to listen to their community, all they're going to hear is the sound of crickets.

If.
Bermbom 29 May, 2012 @ 4:55am
All the official TWI servers that were set up just before the free weekend are all action-mode servers. Not a single classic-mode one. It's clear what TWI wants: everything NOT resembling RO1 or in other words: those pesky critical RO vets that refuse to brown-nose.
Bermbom 27 May, 2012 @ 10:43am
Ramm sure looked stressed out in that video. As if all life was drawn out of his eyes.
-[SiN]-bswearer 26 May, 2012 @ 9:18pm
Finally, progress......Classic is how the game should have been 8 months ago. Something we (me in particular) suggested. I do recall Ramm specifically calling me out and saying "I don't like Classic, it sounds stupid" and yet almost a year later, we all see how successful this mode has turned out. Next time, listen to your intelligent community members and save yourself months of near heart attack from the stress of a flop.

;)
Bermbom 24 May, 2012 @ 2:05am
My only question, bswearer, is that how TWI turned into what you describe.
My guess is the departure of several talented people (Xienen for example) and the attitude and behavior of John Gibson. Isnt he fully responsible for the policy choices in general?

I'm a complete outsider on this one but something in my instinct says the main cause of RO2 failure is the internal disharmony in TWI (that much time and work resulting in so little) and broken bonds with the community, for commercial reasons.
-[SiN]-bswearer 23 May, 2012 @ 3:41pm
That video (being months late and not very sincere) will have to suffice as an "apology". Even though it was a amateurish (cue cards....really?), it was a smart PR move. The one thing I am still disappointed in is that the "apology" was for "making mistakes about the game". I could've cared less if the game sucked so long as TW's customer relations didn't degrade to the point they did, or their attitude as developers didn't morph into the bigwhig "money grabber" type that they always preached against. Making the excuse of "we misjudged the community" regardless to the obvious facts that they WILLINGLY disregarded community feedback 3-8 months pre-release is still quite concerning. Hopefully the free weekend and "update" will help, although this is not quite the major update one would expect 8 months post-release, especially when advertised features like Campaign mode and demos are still not in, nor is the first planned content update (2 tanks, transports) looking to be done soon.
Bermbom 23 May, 2012 @ 11:14am
Now an update is coming. Free weekend and all. And very meagre content. And changes that had to be in RO2 in the FIRST place.
TWI even made a video to promote the free weekend with monologues of the TWI-depers.
Never seen that many lying and believing it.
You can even look John Gibson into the eyes to see he has no soul.

The very mentioning of crosshairs made me puke.

Bots number > active players number on ranked servers
Let me guess... New patch, more ppl complaining, another patch, still ppl complaining; in the meanwhile, less players around. Things're gettin' worse and worse.
ragequit 20 Mar, 2012 @ 3:52pm
Just have a look at that thread, Curlis, I ve just read some good opinions.
Anyway, we can't talk bout realism. I'd like to see a PTRS passing through the front (it's the thickest part of that tank,60mm afaik, it's rounded) armor of a t-34 turret killing its gunner... Guess it's nearly impossible but not in ro2.
Vincent 20 Mar, 2012 @ 9:00am
..since then you've avoided? Christ man... they improved code a lot.

T-34 stands a decent chance against non-elite Germans... especially at close range where you can always flank. And if you can't flank, you just order infantry to occupy them and knock them out while the main gun is trying to kill off that pesky AT rifle gunner.
Vincent 20 Mar, 2012 @ 8:58am
..and T-34 has a chance. You need to flank, that's all. And have numerical superiority.

There badly needs to be a separate tank reinforcement count with Germans having one third or one half on maps where they are not assaulting.
Vincent 20 Mar, 2012 @ 8:57am
I'm not here to troll. I'm here to dispense enlightement.

Anyway.. your observations are fine.

Mine are this: tanks blow up really easily.

Gameplay observations are ♥♥♥♥. You need to stage a game where all you and a couple of dudes would do would be to try to hit various parts of the tanks and then assess damage.

And then look up WWII statistics and compare.

Also, T-34 armor is kind of fragile. Especially to High velocity 75 mm AP shells.

I mean, come on. It was almost impervious to the 75mm short german gun on basic Pz IV. Germans could knock them out by destroying the motor.

Pz IV was the German response to Russian tanks like T-34 and KV.

IT only makes sense T-34 is vulnerable to it, right?
Bermbom 20 Mar, 2012 @ 4:43am
@ Steiner, I read it. Something is indeed wrong. I tried the T34 first days RO2 was out, never tried it since. It isnt coded correct.
Since then I avoid all the servers with tanks on.
T34 stands no chance against the P4 with a good player in it no matter how you position itself. Flanking doesnt work on most maps (only on Gumrak).

RO1 used to be fun in tanking (although unrealistic), it became a bore in RO2. And tanking was not the major selling point of RO1, I give you that.
ragequit 19 Mar, 2012 @ 3:59pm
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=76953

Here's my post bout tanks problems... This time I found someone who shares my opinion bout armor and ballistic issues.
ragequit 19 Mar, 2012 @ 3:48pm
Sorry man, nothing personal. We are supposed to discuss in a mature way, you just seem to be here just to troll. That's why I'm not reading any of your posts.

Talking bout tanks, Verluste, I tried to open a new thread on the official forum talking bout armor and balistic problems... Have you ever tried the t-34? Imho the gunner is always fully exposed to enemy fire, even when the front armor of the turret is the only exposed part. In ostfront a good spot made the difference, now it doesn't.
Vincent 19 Mar, 2012 @ 1:44pm
@bswearer

Now instead of taking apart my arguments, you are crying for mommy.
Classy, classy. I doubt you'd even consent to an RO2 duel... I know your kind.

Afraid of their own shadow..
Vincent 19 Mar, 2012 @ 1:42pm
@Verluste

So you paid $30 bucks and now you want free goodies. From a 20 person company.

I wonder how much your ilk would moan and groan if a DLC with 5 more tanks and 5 maps went for $10.

Which is chump change..
Bermbom 19 Mar, 2012 @ 4:15am
The classic mode is indeed a step in the right direction. More steps are needed. Such as better official maps from TWI, tankcombat (more tanks), troops transports and more... CONTENT gentlement, GOOD content.

TWI is a bad drug dealer in a big pond of other bigger and better fish.
ragequit 18 Mar, 2012 @ 1:54pm
Thx Eagles, glad to hear good news. Maybe some vets will be back.
]nXs[eagles.rd 18 Mar, 2012 @ 8:30am
for what it's worth, the beta is a huge step in the right direction. i
wonder if it's too little too late though since most of my clan-which is pretty much dead because of ro2-is already "done" with ro2. and i know thats true for a lot of other ostfront vets
-[SiN]-bswearer 17 Mar, 2012 @ 4:49pm
@Cullis.......who/what are you talking about? Are you unaware that this group is for the discussion of RO2 and Tripwire Interactive? This trollish rambling about pro-life and infanticide....what does any of that have to do with this group of the subject of discussion?

I've taken the liberty of reporting these constant abuses of yours to Steam since apparently the admin of this group has gone missing for far too long.
Vincent 17 Mar, 2012 @ 8:53am
@Steiner.

You're pro-life? That invalidates anything you say. Ethically speaking, any abortion is entirely okay, for the value of a newborn baby is very low.

I mean, all it takes to have one is for two fertile human animals to ♥♥♥♥ at the right time and then wait nine months.

Compare that to the act of murder, where someone who's been alive for years dies.. and all his memories, experiences and skills are gone.

Newborns actually don't even have a mind .. they lack self-awareness. They don' even pass the mirror test.. (unlike adult crows, most parrots, apes, elephants, and so on)

So, really.. pro life.

Your mind's been warped by christianity. Infanticide is okay, and in fact it is immoral to allow retarded and disabled children to live. You set them up for a lifetime of being crapped on by the world...
Vincent 17 Mar, 2012 @ 8:49am
Invalidates? Why the ♥♥♥♥ should it invalidate anything. I consider RO2 as a game, I don't care who made it.

Does that matter? No. What matters is whether it works. It has bugs, yes, it is not Ostfront, yes.

So what? Once sway is increased and properly simulated, it'll no longer be the awesome headshotfest it is now. Other parts of it work okay, the only problem is idiots who can't teamplay, but allowing commanders to TK people out of capzones would solve that.

Health could use an overhaul, but Beta is going in the right direction, bandaging takes a lot of time there. I for one would welcome disabled states where you'd say have mobility to a degree, and could choose whether to snuff it or go on fighting looking somewhat dead or screaming.

That'd be a nice touch. In RL, soldiers sometimes fought with one of their arms missing and the stump tied off with a tourniquet. Endorphins & adrenaline allow people to function okay for a couple of hours in that state..
ragequit 13 Mar, 2012 @ 3:39pm
bsweaver, never give up. We aren't discussing 'cause we have personal interests or issues but we would like to have our good old community back.
Knowing a problem is the first step to solve it... We know the problem, someone denies all. Till that "someone" will take any opinion like a personal attack, I don't see any way out.
http://swearer.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/roladdergate/
-[SiN]-bswearer 11 Mar, 2012 @ 9:34pm
And in all seriousness, I do hope RO2 and TWI has a turn around. But it's going to take pulling them back down to reality.....apologies, admitting mistakes and mending broken trust will go a lot further than continuing to burn bridges.
ragequit 11 Mar, 2012 @ 3:33pm
http://swearer.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/roladdergate/
I ve just read it all... What a dissappointing attitude but guess what? I'm not surprised at all.
-[SiN]-bswearer 11 Mar, 2012 @ 1:04pm
Since nobody from TW ever had the integrity to tell the truth about ROLadder closing, I figured somebody should.

http://swearer.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/roladdergate/
ragequit 8 Mar, 2012 @ 1:52pm
Perhaps, you can identify them in many other ways, but there still is one thing in common they all share: you'll get insults, bashing instead of logic answers, a classic immature behaviour.
I ve just read RO:ladder staff message and felt really sad 'bout the way things turned out... Too bad I can't imagine this game without them.
Vyllis 8 Mar, 2012 @ 1:23pm
"You can identify them by their loud ''stop whining'' comments." So true.

But i hope they really fix the game, because except Iron Front 44 (q4 2012 ?), there is nothing to play :(
Bermbom 8 Mar, 2012 @ 8:19am
The old garde on the TWI forums gets slowly replaced by the TWI brown-nosing newbeecrowd who adores the current fast CoD RO2 gameplay.

You can identify them by their loud ''stop whining'' comments.
heycarnut 7 Mar, 2012 @ 7:16pm
@cullislingus: Intelligence is like a river: the deeper it is, the less noise it makes...
-[SiN]-bswearer 6 Mar, 2012 @ 7:43pm
@Cullis, Ramm IS the head of TWi.....he's co-owner and president. The fact that you didn't even know that invalidates anything you've said to this point.

Why don't you just go a-trololololing along now
Sensemann 6 Mar, 2012 @ 7:10pm
You brought up this ridiculous comparison, not me. Besides that we are getting pretty off topic, I suggest we stay with the intended topic of this group. That brings me to the question of what your intention is to have joined this group? I mean it's pretty easy to understand what people are complaining about and what not, isn't it? Considering some of the guys that are regulars on the forums as well as members of this group, I think that most of the people with a clue about what's going on, able to discuss in a "normal" way, are unhappy with how the game turned out.
So what's your goal?
Vincent 6 Mar, 2012 @ 4:37pm
I'll let record reflect I made no comment on your inability to understand what 99th percentile in general intelligence means.

And yeah, I went to a psychologist for to get a psych report on me. Because, most people are deluded about themselves, and I wanted a second opinion, even though I am far less deluded than the average guy.

@bswearer
Who? Lakupiipu in this thread and dozensf of morons around TWI forums.
Also, I do not get your comment.

Ramm who? You mean the guy who thinks he is head of TWI?
Sensemann 5 Mar, 2012 @ 8:18pm
Lol @ "Who am I gonna trust? The psychologist who measured my intelligence to be highly superior". You went to a psychologist for measuring your intelligence? hahaha, that's hilarious. Let me guess, since then, you have been there a couple of more times, eh? I think what he meant to say is that his intelligence is 99 times higher than yours, but just put it into a way that you, Cullis, are not getting butthurt. Why don't u set up your own steam group and discuss with your kind?
Bermbom 5 Mar, 2012 @ 1:19pm
+1 for bswearer
-[SiN]-bswearer 5 Mar, 2012 @ 1:12pm
@Cullis, you sound quite delusional and borderline psychotic......you'd probably be great friends with John "Ramm" Gibson.

Who's saying RO2 should have never been released? We waited for this game for years.....it just shouldn't have been released in such a broken state :P

And your "go make it yourself" comment only further shows how idiotic you really are. Troll harder Troll.
Vincent 5 Mar, 2012 @ 12:18am
@-[SiN]-bswearer

You know, who am I gonna trust? The psychologist who measured my intelligence to be highly superior (99th) percentile, or some pasty butthurt sadcase on the net, eh?

I'm just kind of miffed with people who post ♥♥♥♥ like they wished RO2's never been released. Come the ♥♥♥♥ on.

If you got off your lazy butt.. you folks could have your precious RO-ost emulation done in two months.
moyako1802 4 Mar, 2012 @ 10:49am
Lol, bswearer
Tuuli 4 Mar, 2012 @ 7:22am
Tripwire kinda sucks with this new RO2 CoD alike thing. kinda wish the game would have never been released
Vincent 2 Mar, 2012 @ 1:48pm
Probably playing RO-OST, on a map he has played thousands of times already..
