The server owner has neither the funds nor passions to maintain services, and neither does she currently have the power to enjoy the game at the highest potential her hardware can produce.

If interested in downloading your dinosaurs, characters, or items away from the server, you may have until July 15th, midday in HAST. After that date and hour, the game server will be removed from the public servers list, all its settings and account data will be deleted, and its rental from Streamline Servers discontinued.

If interested in a copy of the complete server files or only some game server files in particular, private-message the server owner here or leave a message on the steam user's profile.

I check on the server when I wake up, and lo and behold, the cpu's pooped to 0% again.

As of the time and date of this announcement, I will be away from home for the next eight or nine hours and wil not be able to experiement on the server or update you guys on what's happening until then. :<

I'm sorry for all the time and accomplishments we lost yesterday.



I'm back home and writing back to the support-guy I wrote to yesterday in the Support Ticket I filed.

I'm also looking for the most recent functioning map save we have, so the server will be up-and-down until I find that map save. Once restored, I will be looking for volunteers to help describe anything that they may have done in the time after the restored save. I.e. using certain moded functions, or taming new dinos, or making structures, or crafting things, etc.



Streamline Servers support hasn't gotten back to me yet, but here're some notable things I/we've found out:

1. Fraggle (aka Bob in-game) found a series of dump text files (crash reports the game wrote every time we restarted the server with a corrupted save file) that look like this:

2. 'Found a map save file that worked. It's a save from ~2-3 hours before the daily scheduled save-file backup.
   
3. After loading into the game, I found all that I had attempted to accomplish yesterday was done EXCEPT craft the Sorting Chest, utilize it, and gather eggs.
   
4. Awesome dude Mishy (in-game) noted to me that the Sorting Chest mod was removed from the workshop. .-.
   
5. It's my fault for not checking back on mod updates often enough, and I'm really sorry. ;~;

It has to do with the new mod's installation. Advanced Architechtures aaaaaand maybe Big Walls. 'and an updated version of improved stacks if it a clean mod. I'm rearranging the order priority the server activates them in... Some of the numbers weren't correct.

Server'll definitely be up by 4pm PST, if not 3pm.


3:30 PST, UPDATE:

LIES, I lied! The problem lies deeper than some messed up .ini files. I'm curently filing a support ticket with Streamline Servers to help me investigate what's up with the server. 'will update with more news if I have any new news to report.


4:10 PST, UPDATE:

Yeey! Streamline servers support-dude got back to me-- and it appears the server game simply crashes after trying to start up. The support-guy suggested that the map may be corrupted (again, omg) and to try using a backup of TheIsland.ark file. 'Doing that now.


5:00pm PST, UPDATE:

MOTHER DUCKER. IT WORKED. BUT. I used a backup map file from TWO DAYS AGO, MONDAY, THE 18TH. UGH. So much work, and things have been done since then! ;~; I understand someone had collected much thatch and someone else much pelt and a beetle in that time

Why the backup map from two days ago? Well, I restarted the server using the save file from last night, Tuesday the 19th, at 11:53pm HST. 'Didn't work. Server still crashed. Went further back to Monday the 18th at 10:36pm HST, and it's running like hot butter again.

Unless someone posts a comment saying they're cool with that map save, I'm going to keep testing saves until I can find the most recent map save that is not corrupted. Thus, I will be constantly restarting the sever until 6pm PST at the latest.


6:10 pm PST UPDATE:

Finally found the most recent useable backup. It's from Tuesday 19th at 7:53am PST. The saves after that are corrupted, and the server crashed after using save files after that point. :c

Short and simple--

All tribe settings are the same, all player engrams and stats are the same. Everything else left on the island's been wiped over with a fresh map file.

After much testing and frolicking about-- it appeared that using a fresh TheIsland.ark file did away with the 5050 spawning bug. Our server file might have corrupted during the update to v229. Validating files through re-running the steam update on the server-side game did not work to fix our bug, and removing or activating different mod combinations did not affect the chance of activating our bug. So-- map wipe. v.v


So what's going to change?

When first connecting to the game, you will be asked to spawn into a region, and you will have nothing in your inventory but your hat skin, dino spectacles, and parasaur saddle skin. You will still have the same experience points and stats. Tribe logs, data, and settings will be maintained. Dinos left on the map will disappear, all structures will be wiped. See instructions on how to use an obelisk to save your valuable dinos at the very bottom section of this announcement.

Mods on the server will also change. I am removing both the walls mods and Binoglass. Binoglass will be replaced with Advanced Spyglass. Mod priority order will be changed to allow players to place Kilrath's Refridgerated Feeding Trough. You can check out the updated mod list at this link here.

I'm also making a few changes to the server gameplay settings... Let player "Froglegs!" know if they seem noticable. =u=

1. Fly, carry, walk your dinos to an obelisk. Sea creatures currently cannot be uploaded or downloaded at an obelisk.
   
2. Make sure to place your dino to stand on the metallic platform at the obelisk.
   
3. Dismount and open the obelisk's interface-- At the top of your screen you should see a rectangular button labelled "Transmit Ark Data". Click on that, and then you will be presented with new buttons at the bottom of your screen.
   
4. Click "Upload Creatures Data" to save your dino's data to some remote server somewhere. You will then be presented with a list of all dinos standing on the obelisk platform under Your ownership. Clicking on their names will show you their stats. Once you've chosen and clicked which dino you want to upload, click the "Upload Dino" button that should appear in the bottom left. After that, your dino will disappear from the island and be saved somewhere in the cloud. All the items on the dino will drop into a bag on the obelisk.
   
5. To download your dinos back onto the island, you'd go to an obelisk, and instead of clicking "upload creatures", you'd use the "Download Creatures Data" button instead. You'll be presented with a list of dinos you previously saved to the island, and you can see their saved stats from when you uploaded them. Choose your dino, then click the "Download Dino" button that appears in the bottom left. Your dino will then spawn onto the obelisk platform without any items and without warpaint.
