Back from another vacation and I'm behind again! Time to get cracking on those new posts.

Back from vacation! Seems like I've missed quite a bit, announcement-wise. Speaking of announcements, while I was out of town, I saw the Leo Kottke and David Lindley concert, about which I think I'll post an announcement. In short, though, excellent show, highly recommend seeing either of them.

Yep! They might be touring a bit less in the future, but with any luck, they'll be back in town soon.

Well, I was unable to attend, I had to do some volunteering last night because the deadline is tomorrow. I guess I'll have to catch them next time they're in town. At least I hadn't bought my ticket when I found out.

I think you'll be able to see Tomas and the gang just fine. And yeah, Victory Records has made a fine mess of everything, good thing they're just about through with their contract with Streetlight.

Then I'd probably be upstairs. Honestly, I've never had the slightest desire to try crowdsurfing. Glad to hear about the visibility, I'm not tall, but I'm above average, so it shouldn't be too hard to see. I read about the merchandise raw deal. What a racket that is.

Just took a look at the venue for myself, I imagine it would be more tame upstairs. I myself, being the type to mosh, was in the pit in front of the stage. Visibility was good regardless of whether I was in the middle of the pit or off to the sides where it was completely still (although, being a bit taller than most probably aided that), and visibility was especially good while crowdsurfing (if you've ever wanted to try it, this would be the place - it happens more often here than anywhere else I've been). Best of luck in snagging a ticket, these guys do not disappoint!

OH OH OH! Also, if you do decide to buy band merchandise, remember to do it from the merch table there or from their webstore. That way, all profits go to the band (because their signed-to record company nabs 100% of the profits when purchased through other means, like Amazon or iTunes - Victory Records is an evil lot).

Yeah, I just looked up the place and it appears to be a standing room. I can't say I'm a moshing kind of guy. Hell, I don't even dance, come to that. I can just stand there and tap my foot with the best of them, though, so I could probably snag a spot along the sides. Actually, I'm glad to hear it's the 24th, because it turns out I have stuff to do the 23rd. Stupid responsibilities. Where were you at and how was your vantage point?

Oh, and they're coming to San Diego 5/24.

It depends on the venue. As I said before, the edges of the standing room were standing still, it's not wall-to-wall moshing, but it does get livelier the closer you get towards the center. Probably not seats, but I'm fairly sure you wouldn't have to mosh if you didn't want to and still be fairly comfortable.

Hmm, I didn't realize moshing is a big thing there. You're right, it isn't my cup of tea. So is there one giant pit, or are there regular seats, too?

I would strongly recommend it. They put on a lively show, so do keep that in mind if moshing isn't quite your cup of tea (although the sides of the pit are much more relaxed). Best of luck in snagging a ticket if you decide to go!

Glad to hear everything's back to normal! Well, I'm letting some of my musical strangeness show right off the bat with my Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa posts. But, hell, at least I haven't posted The Yellow Shark...yet.

It's all good, man! Everything's back to normal now. I've been listening to a lot more music too (and no worries, you won't put me off - my tastes are obscure too), so I'm looking forward to see what gets posted!

Sorry, didn't see your comment until now. Welcome back and I'm glad to see on your profile that your "rather pleasant spat" worked out. I didn't realize the depth of that situation and I'm sorry if, even though it worked out in the end, I stirred up some bad memories in the process. I've been listening to a lot more music than I used to back when this group was in full swing, so I look forward to expanding my musical tastes. Mine are a little out there, so I hope I don't put you off.
