When i set each gear on each number on keybord and i want to put the gear on with the number and i press it it works but when i leave it it returns to neutral gear. Am i doing something wrong or its some mistake in my game?

Realistic physics and graphics, cool modification menu, awesome sounds and maps, realistic grip and suspension mechanics and great controls, acceptable ai, there's just one thing missing, funny cars that's what i would love to see i mean how freakin cool would it be to be goin down the dragstip in 4 seconds with huge 20 by 20 tires and gigantic supercharged engines that would just be EPIC, (this game is already EPIC but then if funny cars are added this game would be OMEGA EPIC) so yeah thats my thoughts on it
