Hello once again. I am here with a new, but vaguely related purpose to last time.

A new Homefront group has been created for the purpose of being a new game server and other player hub. Sometimes has a game server of its own up that runs the DLC maps on rotation, and also makes use of a live bot service on Discord to know when a match is up.

I am able to pass on links to it if it is warranted.

Turns out you were right, and it had been too long since I came across the issue. Any server running a DLC map will block non-owners as soon as they try to connect to it, no matter what map is currently playing. This is due to the check for DLC ownership status being performed as soon as the player attempts to join a server in any case.

From what hearsay I heard of, you can still join such servers if you do not own the DLC. The issue is when the DLC map is up next in rotation. Once it loads, any player not owning it is forcibly disconnected. Note that I will need to confirm this later by unmounting The Rock Map Pack as an active DLC and trying to connect to the one server that has one of its maps.

Also, the offer is not a matter of convincing you to host such things. It is to gift it regardless of whether you host it or not, so it can be experienced at all by you in Private Match/Listen Server sessions and such.

TS2 thanks for the offer. I personally don't own the DLC. FYI if you don't own the DLC you can't join servers that have it active, so my server will remain as it is (no DLC).

The other servers are not Russian. They are German or otherwise. Desislava was the only actually Russian one.

I already do look at those servers generally, as I do also Guv'nor's Steam group. What I am here to do is to provide you with the DLC, so that even if you do not host or play its content, it is always on the table.

TS2 thanks, just trying to make sure folks have a place to get all of the game achievements (the original reason I started running the server).
To answer your questions no it does not own the DLC and the base server is free. As far as I know (and I'm not really paying much attention to it) most are Eastern European / Russian. I'd suggest looking at the servers that get more play than my server does.

1. Congrats on running the Homefront server for so long.
2. Does the server account own that game's DLC, to be able to run that map content?
3. Would you like to know where the main active contingent of Homefront 1 players resides these days?

That brings some good memories. I don't have this game installed aynmore, but makes me wonder too.

Wow the Homefront server is getting some play from a group of 8 people the last few nights. Wonder if they are chasing achievements like what I started the server to begin with.

The Unturned server undergoes a weekly manual cleanup. Not sure what you mean by restart, to me a restart is I shut the server down, and then restart it (and yes this happened). Game save data is loaded at the point that the server was shut down. When that happens after I've done the weekly cleanup, the things I have removed during said cleanup are no longer there.

Did the unturned server restart?

If anyone is wondering why the server is not up, I am in the process of testing a new operating system on the current hardware (thanks Valve ) So far it doesn't look good as the new opsys (Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials) is sluggish and a memory hog compared to what it was running previously (Windows XP) and I'm already maxed out on memory (what I think is the problem). Time will tell, server disk is still intact and will be running again between 9PM UTC and 11AM UTC daily until it is either run with new opsys, replaced or retired at the end of the year. Thanks for understanding.

Actually setting up the HomeFront server was a breeze compared to TF2 and HL2DM servers I have run on this system. I will have to upgrade the operating system soon as it's still on XP and Steam is removing support for XP and Vista in 175 days.

Ok anyone who joined the group I figured this might be a good way to be able to schedule times to play (farm hehe). Right now the servers running are Homefront and TF2 (has been HL2DM in the past). Also makes it easy on any of us to send group message thru Steam Chat.
