Post-Uprising?
The entire canon is set post-uprising. Meaning you’ll be deployed in a torn world. Large-scale destruction of cities and continents. The combine has been driven from the world as you know it, what’s left is the survivors of the battles and the ashes of it’s outcome. The new objective for humanity is to build and restore the world to it’s former glory. Before the world can be restored, control needs to be maintained. The question is then, who will gain control and lead humanity towards its distant future.

What’s my role as a new character?
Your character is a survivor of the massive battle, that was the outcome of the uprising. The background of your character is completely up to you, whether you were a former rebellion member, or just a plain citizen.
Now that the oppressing force that once was the combine is gone, gaining power in this new world is easy, it’s just a question of having people to back you up in your quest for power. Your character will therefore play an important role in the development of the roleplay.

What’s happening with the rebellion now?
The rebellion’s former leaders are still alive, trying to establish contact with their forces to regain a foothold in this now post-apocalypse world. Even though some still follow the former leaders, other see this as a chance of their own to easily gain power in this new world. These power-seekers from within the old rebellion broke away, creating their own affiliation, creating massive internal power-struggles from within the former rebellion.

Wheres the combine now?
The combine has been eradicated from the surface of the earth. Many fled during the last hours of the uprising, transporting themselves off-world. The remaining survivors of the combine, who didn’t flee, pose no threat to the new civilization at hand, as many of them were mere foot soldiers during the war.

What if i don’t feel like these already existing factions fit my character’s personality?
You are completely in control of your character. So that’s why the option “freelancing” is available to everyone. You can create your own group, trying to secure your own foothold in this upcoming future.
