Closing this group

Sorry folks, I'm closing this group due to inaction from Valve on the various issues we have pointed out to them over and over.

If they won't take the time to fix the issues then I won't waste mine in trying to find hackers for them.

Hopefully everyone has a great day and feel free to friend me if you haven't already.

Suspected exploiter of the day!

http://steamcommunity.com/id/reported_pc

Named: Count De Monet [Slacker]. Steam collector has him listed at level 426 and number 8 overall. I chose him randomly to review his profile. It didn't take long (it never does) to find evidence of hacking.

There were a few things, so bear with me:

1. He has level 5759 holiday badge from the Xmas 2014 event. As we all know, it takes 15 seconds for each level of each badge to be created. Doing some simple math, that's 74,867 seconds of doing NOTHING but watching swirling cards. That's 1247 minutes, 21 hours... 21 HOURS of doing nothing. But sitting at the computer watching cards swirl around. Not to mention the fact that in order to create a level 5759 badge, he would have had to have bought 57,590 cards... at $.10 (low estimate) that would be $5,759 dollars. That's assuming he waited until the cards hit $.10 which would have given him only 7 days to make 5,759 levels worth of badges, lol. Not to mention purchasing that many cards. Of course, like most people featured here, he doesn't have his market transactions listed on his profile... odd..

But.. let's take all the guesswork right out of it and take a look at his badges.

2. If you look at December 16th at 6:21PM you'll see that he has 16. SIXTEEN level 5 badges all created at the same time. That's 80 separate badges all created at the same time. Seems odd....

3. If you look at his inventory he has exactly 15 of the first five sets of badges and way more than he would need for other badges including 15 of lots of other sets of badges... always 15. You wouldn't have 15 things from creating ONE level 5 badge for that game. So.. how would you have exactly 15 for everything..... Another odd thing.

Someone told me the other day that there are scripts to buy cards and create badges, etc. That's all well and good, but it doesn't explain how a SCRIPT (AKA a smart macro) would be able to skip all the animations without altering the client in some way.

Bottom line: This person is (gasp) probably abusing exploits. I know.. everyone is so surprised to see a level 426 that is abusing the system.

If everyone would go ahead and take a look and report whatever they find, we can help clean up Steam. I recommend you do so based on whatever YOU find. I'm just letting you know something isn't right.

New Steam Groups!

I am working on new Steam groups that indicate the level a person has attained. They are called "Legit Level XXX" (Where XXX is a level from 100 to 199).

The rules to being invited:
Profile can't be private or friends-only and must show steam market transactions, trades, achievement showcase, etc.
Profile must not contain any traces of botting, script card buying/trading/selling (see below)
Profile must not contain any traces of steam wallet hacking (see below)
Profile must not contain any traces of achievement hacking (see below)
Profile must not contain any traces of "Press Review" copies of games unless you run a well-advertised and legit youtube channel or are a PAID game reviewer with corporate sponsorship. (I.E. No games in your profile were unlocked or played prior to the street date)
Profile must not contain any bans of any kind at any time (Steamrep.com)
Profile must have the requisite amount of badges/exp to support the level indicated
Profile must not have any level 5 badges created in the same minute (botting/scripting) unless one of them is a 5-card badge. It takes at least 13 seconds to put together ONE badge of 8-12 cards on a high-end system with 150 Mb internet. Do the math.
Profile must have a closely matching amount of steam transactions and trade transactions to the number of badges created. (E.G. 1,000 transactions and zero trades isn't going to make sense for a level 100)
Profile must not have an inordinate amount of "odd" achievement activity (having 40 perfect games when you only have 50 games is very suspect, having all the achievements on the same day/time, having achievements that only .001 percent of gamers have, and you have them all, etc)
Profile badges must be spaced out enough to indicate they were all done manually. If you have any question of what that would look like, feel free to look at mine. I'm so sick of looking at swirling cards I could vomit. But, that doesn't mean I'm going to cheat.

Lastly, no evidence of any combination of the above issues or anything listed in the Anti-Cheaters, hackers, exploiters newsletters/minutes.

I will do periodic checks on the profiles in these groups, if I find there is evidence of any of the above, not only will the user be permanently banned from all of my groups, but they will be reported to Steam.

A small disclaimer: If you elect to try for entry into these groups and I find that you are in violation of the Steam EULA/TOS in any of the above cases, I won't just deny you access to the group. You will also be reported to Steam for a permanent ban.

Thanks for the support for this group, guys!

HACKER OF THE DAY, 10 Nov 2014

Check out this tool.

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198062161809

He is level 95, right?

But, he has only 5 badges and the listing for his next level is over 45,000 exp.

So, that's proof of the fact that there are Steam level hacks out there now. Let's get some movement by Steam and the mods. Make some noise about, but not PUBLICLY. First everyone report him by going to his page and using the REPORT function. If enough of us report the same person hopefully something will get done.

And, not surprisingly, he's friends with Palm Desert (the other person below that's level 402). Let's get these guys off Steam!

Need an avatar!

If someone can provide an avatar for the group, I would greatly appreciate it. I curate under the group name now.

It would be nice for them to have a solid avatar to see that makes them realize that the games I recommend are games that people can play that don't advocate cheating.

Thanks!

Watch out for Phishing/Scaming posts in your chat

Everyone, make sure you don't fall prey to the fake links people throw up in chat where you can get "free items" or there's a list of items you can choose from, etc. In order to view someone's items you can just click their profile (on steam) and choose "inventory" from their profile main page.

This just happened to me for the second time with similar verbage and a website that looks like a major carrier, but isn't. (this one was like google, another one looked like a website that carries pictures, but the name wasn't right)

Thursday, September 18, 2014
5:41 PM - Nagul: Hi, I decided to throw the Cs and Dota 2
And I will give items to everyone.Have AWP/Knife
Dota2: DC Hook BattleFury. All item you can check on screen
goo.gl/XXXXXX (deleted the rest of the link) , check screen and write me what items you interest.

Another key thing to look for is: Low level profile, complete failure as far as typing in English and generally this is out of the blue. I'm not sure if it's a virus they picked up. But NEVER follow links outside of steam unless you're absolutely sure they lead to a real website. Even links in the forums can be tampered with to take you to places that don't look like what they were supposed to be in the quick-view.

And, of course, the real obvious part: This guy had absolutely NOTHING in his inventory.... obviously a scam.
Devil738 is our first Moderator

He will have the ability to manage the online chatting and kick people from the online chat as well as post new announcements.

Don't forget to invite your friends to the group. The more prolific we become, the better we can help folks out.
