shade00...emotions definitely can reveal a dementia. Sometimes, to me, it feels like they start saying, 'g'bye,' so much that sadness overtakes attention.
Make sure she knows she's loved despite all the changes... and love your sweet self up too xOx

my mom just got back her pup today, was having seizures and deaf among other things guess, hes in an urn now she had him till long old age her constant companion
when he started going seems like when the dementia started up

Ohhh the stories I could tell you about caring for my mum-in-law.... She was a sweetheart ..rascal!Always brilliant during life prior to dementia, but also a very thoughtful kind of human. So, these things we could see in her as she, bless her heart! managed to forget what she was doing in the midst of (unplanned & unknown)night-time walks, or random midnight cleaning up of the house, forays into climbing the kitchen cabinets looking for food! At one point, she went round repeatedly turning the lights off and on...all...night long!for months, people! Bless her heart, we finally figured out how to keep her busy and tire her sufficiently so that she slept much better. Love them all up and do what you must to make them comfy, even if it is a nursing home. PS: for your loved ones, maybe think about how you would like things to go(in future) should you get dementia....

It might not be that they are simply fed up, but it could be unsafe for her. Dimentia patients tend to lose track of what time it is, wander out into the streets and get hurt, not be able to manage medications. This is what happened with my ex-mother in law. She wandered out into the snow in the middle of the night because she thought she had a doctor's appointment, couldn't find her car (which she no longer had) and fell down and her son (not my ex the other one) found her in the morning. So it could simply be becoming not safe for her to not be in a skilled nursing home with memory care experts.

So sorry to hear that shade00. My father had Alzheimer's and it was so hard for the family to deal with, though it became a little easier once we all accepted it, and did our best to adjust. I'm not a religious guy, but maybe that will make my prayers more noticeable up there. Stay strong.

Just a heads-up to folks who may have Conan Exiles collecting dust in your library. There is now a free enhanced (UE5) edition, and the difference is like night and day. I could never really get into because of the graphics, but it looks gorgeous now.

That's good news because I'm old and slow too lol. My tax refund is due soon so uh.... might cave.

I was on the fence as well Chevette. I dislike platforming in most games, since I constantly wind up falling and trying again until I get lucky or give up. I'm only a few hours into Crimson Desert, but the few times I had to jump from place to place were actually pretty easy. You can also easily climb almost anything, which simplifies things.

I'm enjoying it so far, but have been holding off playing much until the next big patch next week. That will allow old, slow guys like me to choose "Easy" difficulty to balance out combat. The one thing I don't like are the puzzles - just not my thing. Thankfully, though I don't usually like having to use guides, there are a ton of videos available to help when I get stuck.

Dagnabbit I was trying not to spend money on Crimson Desert because I feel like the jumping and some of the combat will frustrate me but people really seem to be anjoying it. I'm going to hold out for a sale, I think. Maybe.

Ohh so this WindRose has a good feel! and sort of similar to Gothic! Chevette and Sandsifter, grateful for that share. Blackløch°, I too enjoy the exploring and crafting as much as action and story, so Crimson Desert needs a look. Thank you all 3 for sharing your experiences.

Really loved the Windrose demo, took me a bit over 12h to make it to "the end". I think I'm quite slow with progressing stuff since I take my time with exploring and crafting always.

I'm currently lost in Crimson Desert (180h in) and knowing me, I'm propably still snailing this next winter. Oh, it's so good. Been crawling through every corner and cave, doing all the side quests etc.

I'm also having a great time with Windrose. Arrrh me hearty!

I'm really enjoying Windrose. I'm more of an RPG/TBS guy, but I have tried most of the current survival games; not my favorite genre, but it sometimes fits my mood. This one is third person (my preference), scenic ocean sailing with lots of islands, and Pirates...Argh! The combat on normal actually reminded me of Gothic - dying to boars and Dodos is pretty pathetic, but it's really more chill than stressful. Very smooth launch for EA, and the price is quite fair.

I enjoyed that demo too... Nice mechanics and graphics...left me wanting more. I see a release date of 5 June 2026 for Gothic I Remake... And you can pre-order it now. Steam will have it... right now it is 33%off on loaded.com
