Future of user created maps?

This is from an email that Codebrush sent to me earlier:

It's hard to prevent hacking if we allow users are able to open servers.
And we have a plan to make matchmaking system with servers that operated by us.
I hope it will improve player's gameplay experience. (include anti hack)

Anti-hack wise this is great news. For custom maps; horrible. In my humble opinion they should keep the option for hosting custom games, but maybe make it so that you don't gain rank or stats from doing so. Some people do enjoy playing just for fun. There aren't that many hackers anyway.

Maybe that just doesn't fit into Dev's vision of making this game into competitive game like all the big MOBAs are...

Only time will tell what will happen. Luckily, making such dramatic changes to network coding will take some time, so let's just enjoy our freedom while we still can, shall we?
