Digging into your profile I found a couple of games you may be looking at. Assetto Corsa Rally is rated Gold on ProtonDB[www.protondb.com]. All the WRC games are also rated Gold, but the very first one has a silver rating with some people saying it's broken, and all the most recent ratings are pointing to a recent, EA related issue.
I personally run Linux exclusively, and I do enjoy a bit of racing sim games. Dirt Rally 2[www.protondb.com] is a lot of fun. I've heard getting racing wheels up and running through Linux is a bit of a pain though. I have no experience there personally.
