steam sales
why do all the major steam sales ALWAYS end at the very beginning of a month. i always look forward to them because i usually get paid on the 10th of every month and wanna buy my favourite games right away, but the sales ALWAYS end before i get my paycheck and i have to either wait until the next sale or pay way more money:steamsad:

You know they're coming. Steam sales are published ahead of time[steamdb.info]. If you get paid on the 10th and you're aware a sale is coming, (Next one is the Winter Sale on the 18th.) why not set some money aside for the sale? You could even pre-load your Steam wallet in anticipation of an upcoming sale. Just plan ahead a little.

Well Valve can't accommodate everyone's pay days. And this is also why human beings invented savings accounts. What's wrong with saving money for the next sale since you seem to have recognized a pattern?

Where does the money go? Why do you need the sale to overlap your pay day so you give Steam priority?

Why do major holidays happen at the end/beginning of the month?

Don't spend all your money. If you use it all up anyway, you wouldn't have money to buy these games in the first place.

You exert some financial discipline and create a discretionary savings fund on your own that will allow you to make purchases inbetween your pay days.

Don’t expect the winter sale to be anything special, it’ll be just like any other steam sale only set during the holiday season.

okay i've read all your messages and i understand, if i have my eye on a specific game/sale i should set money aside for it. it's my own fault that i have trouble with my finances LOL. but thanks for all the links, i wasn't aware they announced their sales like that so this will hopefully help me be prepared for future sales <3 :steamhappy:

that's a pretty good comment. i guess i get wrapped up in all other things i have to either pay off or pay for before i even begin to think about games, but since there's a bunch of games i've been eyeing for a WHILE i'm gonna make a new savings account dedicated to just that haha :steamfacepalm:

Yeah, I figured something like that. It's kind of curiosity because I've seen similar thoughts a number of times over the years.

So I can't help but be curious about the circumstances. Some people are spendthrifts. Some people just don't make much money relative to the necessities they have to pay for. And then with my personality I might have a hard time spending money on games if I was living from paycheck to paycheck. Not saying anyone is wrong or anything, just a personality facet of mine.

Plus I once heard a saying along the lines of, "If you can't afford ten of something, you can't afford the thing", in reference to spending on non-necessities. But maybe if things were different I might not have the luxury of living by that rule.

So is it an issue where getting serious about finances would help? Or is it all so futile and cracked that you might as well enjoy yourself because no amount of budgeting is going to fix the current circumstances.
