Can't sign into google/youtube account on steam overlay.
Google has introduced this new nonsense which prevents users from signing into google accounts via the overlay browser as it is "not verified" and is a "less secure app". There is an option in your google account to allow sign in through less secure apps but even with that enabled, sign in is still prevented via the steam browser. Anyone having this problem too/can help?

Youtube video embedding is no longer possible on the actual Steam client. You're better off asking Valve to start supporting Vimeo, Dailymotion, Odysee and/or Bitchute for video embeds.

I still see embedded YouTube videos in the Steam client. Do you have the YouTube cookies toggled on?
THIRD PARTY MEDIA SHARING COOKIES
These are necessary to embed certain external media in our websites
https://store.steampowered.com/account/cookiepreferences

And there are toggles for embedded Vimeo and Sketchfab players, too.

Hi all, that from Zeppelin is nice and fine for some, but not a real solution generally speaking. What if I do not want using Expierience from NVIDIA, an application I refuse to install at all cost, as well as creating an account over there too.

From the reading it seems, Valve still has not adopted the new OAuth API.
Small rant incoming
Sidenote: Valve should update the browser part instead of creating user annyances in the UI, which is the "thing" they are doing constantly. I want my Exit button back!

Linking YouTube to Steam seems not sufficient, as you still have to login manually after that, even if linked.

So this quote above still holds true. Sadly. :steamsalty::steamsalty::steamsalty:

dude, all you have to do is login to ANY site that uses a " sign in with google " option.
i just did it myself using the epic games store.
And it still doesn't work. lmao. Because when i try to login with google, i add my adress, and gives the same error.

Hello everybody! I found a way to log into my google account via overlay. Go to any game, open the overlay, go to the browser, write Geforce Experience, go to the site, log in through Google. And it's all.
Sorry for my English. I am using a translator
This "solution" no longer works, if it ever did.

This thread is just confused on the main point of this which is wanting to log in to google via steam overlay instead of suggesting these solutions to just link their youtube account through different browsers. what's needed here is on how to link your youtube account on your steam NOT only the browser since if you do login through a browser the progress does not save on steam itself only the browser.

I am aware, but using the Steam client to embed Youtube videos is actually no longer possible. Valve's disinterest in addressing this should be indicative that supporting only Youtube and nothing else is no longer adequate when services such as Vimeo, DailyMotion and Bitchute also exist. I tried to get into Odysee but you need to pay money in order to even host videos on their service.

Honestly I don't blame Valve but Google. Why the hell do they care if I am not using a secure application? If my account gets compromised, that's on me, that's none of their business.

If there is an attack vector that would compromise the security of their customers, they are kind of obligated to close that gap. They host services for many companies and if they allowed a member of that company to continue to log in from an insecure browser, they could be held liable for any damages that might arise from it. Easier to eliminate the use of insecure browsers than place criteria on millions of individual accounts. You can be as reckless as you want. They don't.

You still won't be able to use the Steam client to embed your Youtube videos
