Uncovering new materials and using them to craft ever more powerful gear or just simply cool items has always been central to the Terraria experience. With what is now over 6000 items in the game, it goes without saying that taking a hard look at managing such an expansive crafting experience was needed. Something that makes the potentially-overwhelming feel managable, while also feeling consistent and keeping some familiar functionality. With that in mind, we have introduced a new crafting interface that should feel a lot like how "Research and Duplication" works in Journey Mode. Both the Guide crafting recipe interface as well as crafting station interfaces are now organized by tabular functions (e.g. Weapons, Furniture, etc.) as well as being fully searchable so that you can quickly find what you need to craft any particular item.
Oh, and while we were at it, we made some improvements to the way that crafting from chests works - you can now automatically use materials from nearby chests to craft items. No need to put them in your inventory first - or even open any chests first! With some proper base building, this should put all of your materials at your fingertips automatically. If that gets overwhelming, just toggle it off in the crafting menu. Coupled with the powerful new crafting interface, crafting in Terraria has never been better!
The new Banner Menu allows players to claim and use their banners at their convenience. No more having to tote them around or stuff them in a chest somewhere. You will still need to earn them however...
All identical items are now fully stackable! Yes, that includes items with the same prefix/suffix combos!
Villagers no longer require a valid room/home in order to spawn in your world. This should make them more accessible to players and take some of the pressure off of making "Terrarian's First Cubicle Tower" on each playthrough. Villagers without a home/room will retreat to safety, and thus will be unavailable to players during the nighttime hours.
The Housing Query feature has had a makeover as well, and now provides a visual indictation of what is being scanned as well as icons indicating where the necessary valid elements for Villager housing are located. Of course, you will also still get a text notification of what is missing.
Accessible by clicking the little seed icon next to World Seed during setup for generating a new world, the new World Seed Menu displays all of the main special seed world types that are available. Simply choose what you want, click apply, and off you go!
What will your palace in the sky look like?
Vampires would be wise to avoid the sun at all costs!
Let's go back to where Terraria 1.4.5 began: Terraria x Dead Cells. Our friends at Motion Twin released their side of the crossover some time ago as a part of their Everyone is Here, Vol II Update. If you haven't checked out Dead Cells at this point, we would greatly encourage you to do so - it is truly a fantastic game.
At long last, the Terraria side of the Dead Cells crossover is available for Terrarians to enjoy. From vanity to furniture to weaponry taken from Dead Cells and re-imagined Terraria-style, we hope that fans of both games will find this new content to be authentic and fun to play with. What sorts of Dead Cells content might you find?
Display your treasures in all new ways! (Beheaded Vanity optional)
Deploy Dead Cells weapons to vanquish your foes!
Our good friends at Pocketpair did a masterful job of bringing Terraria into Palworld just a few months ago during the Tides of Terraria Update. If you have not witnessed the glory of Meowmere or the epic Moon Lord boss fight in Palworld yet, what are you waiting for? Check out the update - as well as Palworld itself - over on the Palworld Steam Page!

Greetings Terrarians! Here we are once again at the end of another year. One filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, but through it all we remain so thankful for all of you Terrarians - and even more excited for what lies ahead. We will get into the short term details of that below, but we will leave you wondering and speculating about what is in store for 2026 and beyond. After we get through 1.4.5, we will dive into that with everyone. For now, expect a very abbreviated State of the Game this month. Given the timing of the last Thursday of December this year, pretty much all of our partners (and, indeed our team) has stepped away for the holidays. However, we didn't want to leave you without at least a brief update on a few things. [/p]

We wanted to close by sharing a few holiday-themed builds from our beta testers and to wish each of you a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and we cannot wait to kick off 2026 in style with the release of Terraria 1.4.5 and then to hop right into what else we have planned. Thank you all for another amazing year - we could not and would not be able to do all of this without you. Cheers, Terrarians!
Hello everyone!

Just in time for the holidays, the second series of Terraria Chibichans has arrived for preorders! Series Two features the Jungle Biome, with appearances by the Zoologist, Witch Doctor, Bee Armor, and more. If you order yours during the preorder phase, you will also receive an exclusive Doctor Bones Chibichan absolutely free!
At long last, our good friends at Hystar have recently released a series of super high quality desk mats featuring some of the most iconic scenes and characters from Terraria! These desk mats measure in at 36"x16" (900mmx400mm) and are 5mm thick. This is the perfect addition to any Terraria fan's desktop setup! These will be available both on Hystar's website and on Amazon - though for the present, Hystar is suggesting that fans use Amazon.
Our good friends at Fire and Steel have been making realistic replica Terraria swords for several years now - seriously, if you haven't seen the stainless steel True Nights Edge or Meowmere, you are missing out! However, we are very aware that a stainless steel sword isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea nor are they necessarily affordable for a lot of folks. Taking those things together, Fire and Steel is proud to reveal the first sturdy foam sword in the lineup - Meowmere! We hope that this will be far more approachable and affordable for Terraria fans that want their hands on this iconic weapon.
Hello Terrarians!
As soon as each ship leaves port, we’ll share the vessel name and tracking information. While the games are in transit, we’ll be finalising fulfilment data and sending everything to our fulfilment partners so they can dispatch copies as efficiently as possible once stock arrives.
