I enjoyed my time with the game, but it has some pretty glaring faults. and i will not be buying the upcoming game as it will not have Chole's OG voice actress (Ashly Burch), and i refuse to play it without Ashly's Chole.
oh, and the whole "buy the deluxe edition of the game to get early access" for a STORY-DRIVEN GAME was nothing but corpo greed.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played in my life. Everything about it is terrible the characters, the writing the choices the world the setting the technical performance the ideas all of it is complete trash.

I truly love the LIS series. I played the first one a long long time ago and had such a fun and emotional time. LIS2 is in my opinion the best in the series as its so incredibly deep, emotional, and fun. TC was also a pretty good game despite its own flaws. Once I heard about Double Exposure, I held off on playing it because of the reviews I saw it was getting. After finally giving it a chance and playing it for myself, I can say that its definitely the least fun out of the series.

The first chapter does a good job at getting you hooked into what the games gonna be about. Introducing us back to Max's character after so many years after the first game feels nostalgic, however; that's all it does. Many of the characters in this game lack depth (Max Included). I found myself not interested in a single one of the new characters besides Safi and Gwen. I will admit, Safi's character had some really funny lines, and her personality is pretty enjoyable in the first chapter. Lucas and Moses felt super bland and boring, and I found myself sighing anytime they were talking or on the screen.

My biggest gripe with this game is the lack of impact you actually have through the choices, the plot holes that just never get addressed, and the simple stupidity of the characters. I'm gonna break each one down:

The main choices that you make through all 5 chapters ultimately decide nothing. because you can switch between 2 timelines and talk to 2 different versions of each character, it doesn't really matter if you make one version dislike you and the other doesn't. (Spoiler ahead)......................... At the end of the game both timelines converge and both versions of a character merge together to create one timeline making any decision that caused a version to dislike you immediately invalid. Gwen was a character who I unintentionally made hate me any chance I got. Lorretta snitched on me, I saved the drive, she declined to help take down Lucas, and yet she still somehow had a positive standing with Max once both timelines converged. The same could be said about Lucas. The ending also lacks any sort of oomph that the previous LIS games have. The ending felt extremely anticlimactic and it doesn't have any sort of replay ability towards it. My point is, no matter how you treat each character your choices wont matter in the end of the day.

There are some plot holes that also just never get explained or go in depth with. The biggest one being (Spoilers) When Alderman dies from touching his clone on the lookout. The show this huge moment of Max revealing her powers to Moses, then Alderman stumbles along sees himself, touches it, and Max can either try and save him or let go of his arm (once again both options do literally nothing so it doesn't even matter) and he dies. They never try to explain what that was, why he died, where he may have gone, or just what happened to him. They also never explained why there were flowers that bloomed in the shape of Safi's dead body, or what Yasmin did to piss Safi off enough to literally want to kill her own mother. This isn't really a plot hole, but something I wish they went more in-depth with or allowed the use of more was when Max could swap objects out with their alternate versions from the other timeline. She only used this power twice in the game, the first when she transferred dead version Moses's telescope into the living world, and when she swapped the living world icy lake with the dead world's version. This was such a cool development of Max's new powers, and yet she only used it twice and then forgot about it.

The last thing I dislike about this game is the simple stupidity of the characters. (Spoilers) In chapter 3 Alderman goes to Max's house to question her about the telescope and Safi's death. Max wasn't expecting Alderman to show up so she had the photo of her aiming a gun at Safi on her kitchen island. Not wanting Alderman to see the photo, she wants to hide it............................... SHE THEN PROCEEDS TO NOT AT ALL ATTEMPT TO HIDE THE PHOTO EVEN WHEN ALDERMAN HAS HIS LITERAL BACK TURNED TO HER, and he ends up seeing the photo. I found myself screaming at Max to hide the damn photo when his back was turned but she literally just stood there eyeing it.

All in all this game wasn't that great. I'm really hoping reunion can change the trajectory but only time will tell.
