I waited for Dead Island 2 for a really long time, so long that at some point I honestly stopped believing it would ever come out. When the release finally happened, I bought it almost immediately and played through it on Epic Games, and that alone already felt satisfying :) I went in without overhyped expectations, which is probably why the experience felt so grounded and honest.

The game shines first and foremost in its gameplay. Combat feels heavy and satisfying, every hit has real impact, and zombies react differently, so it stays fun even after many hours. Clearing areas and experimenting with weapons never really gets old ;) The locations aren’t huge, but they’re detailed and enjoyable to explore. The story is simple, nothing mind-blowing, but it doesn’t get in the way and does its job from start to finish.

What really says a lot is that even after finishing the game on Epic, I still wanted more, so later on I decided to go through it again on Steam. In the end, I finished the game with genuine enjoyment, didn’t regret the purchase for a second, and now I’m honestly looking forward to a sequel. If they keep the same direction, I’m definitely in :D
